Job Description

  • Casual positions available
  • SCHADS Award Level 3
  • Must be available for afternoon shift 3pm 11pm Sleepover until 7am
  • Must also be available for weekend work AM/PM
  • Maitland and Newcastle locations

Samaritans Youth Services part of Newcastle Anglican supports disadvantaged and atrisk young people through residential care outreach early intervention and community programs. Were seeking passionate Youth Workers to provide highquality strengthsbased support that empowers young people to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support young people facing crisis homelessness or disadvantage.

  • Deliver personcentred care advocacy and referrals to local services.

  • Maintain accurate records and support applications (e.g. housing Centrelink).

  • Promote child safety wellbeing and legal rights awareness.

  • Build strong professional relationships with families and external services.

  • Facilitate group programs safety plans and house meetings.

  • Contribute to a positive collaborative team and uphold WHS standards.

What Youll Bring:

  • Experience or qualifications in social work/youth/community services and/or extensive experience

  • Strong communication empathy and resilience.

  • Knowledge of local youth support networks and traumainformed care.

  • Commitment to cultural safety and reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check Criminal History Check Drivers Licence first aid & CPR certificate and undertake a preemployment functional medical.
