PRIMARY PURPOSE Duties and responsibilities as presented are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.

JOB DESCRIPTION The Earth Sciences Department/Natural Sciences Division is seeking adjunct instructors to teach a variety of courses ranging from geology to meteorology to climate science. Most courses are intended for general education nonmajor students with a small portion of Earth Science or Geology majors. The department has a variety of equipment and samples for geology and oceanography to use for demonstrations or handson experiences. Currently lecture courses are available with the possibility of lab and field courses in the future.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Examples of essential functions are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature.
Desirable Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Commitment to examine reflect and modify instructional relational and classroom practices in order to effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with the goal of closing equity gaps.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Masters in geology geophysics earth sciences meteorology oceanography or paleontology OR Bachelors in geology AND Masters in geography physics or geochemistry OR Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area. OR The equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education training employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee. Commitment to diversity. All applicants must have demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students faculty and staff. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how these factors relate to the need for equity minded practices within the classroom.
