Job Description
- Various lifesaving appliances and firefighting appliances must be installed inspected maintained and repaired aboard ships while adhering to SOLAS and class rules.
- In accordance with manufacturer instructions and legal requirements perform routine testing and inspections of lifeboats liferafts fire extinguishers fire hoses and other firefighting apparatus.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment faults finding and fixing technical problems quickly and efficiently.
- Maintain and certify LSA/FFA equipment annually while following safety regulations and industry best practices.
- For the sake of regulatory compliance keep thorough records of all maintenance operations inspections and repairs.
- Work together with marine engineers ship workers and other interested parties to guarantee the safe and dependable operation of firefighting and lifesaving systems aboard ships.
Qualifications:
- Four years or more of experience working in the maritime sector as an LSA/FFA Technician or a comparable position.
- Competent knowledge of SOLAS norms class regulations and other pertinent maritime standards.
- Exceptional technical abilities and practical expertise installing maintaining and repairing lifeboats liferafts fire extinguishers and related gear.
- Outstanding troubleshooting skills including the ability to quickly identify and fix equipment issues.
- Meticulous with an emphasis on precision and adherence to safety regulations and protocols.
- Strong communication abilities including the capacity to work with a variety of teams and convey technical information in an understandable and efficient manner.
