We are currently looking for an Academy Leadto join our PeopleFunction within the Corporate group.

This is a fulltime opportunity on a permanent basis. The role will be based in either 10 South Colonnade Canary Wharf London E14 4PU or South Mimms Hertfordshire. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.

Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.

We are currently implementing a flexible hybrid way of working with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role this can flex up to 12 days a month with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

Who are we

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices underpinned by science and research.

The People function is part of the Corporate Group along with Finance Commercial and Infrastructure and Laboratory Services functions which are led by the Chief Finance Officer.

The People function is led by the Chief People Officer who is a member of the Unitary Board.

The People Strategy is about enabling effective partnership between the Agency and its people in helping to deliver the public health outcomes.

Whats the role

The Academy Lead will own the full end to end learning process including scope design delivery/delivery oversite and evaluation of interventions of Academy programmes. Initially they willenable the development of appropriate standards for the initial qualification and development of newly appointed Assessors and in due course other front line regulatory and regulatory science professionals. A member of the People Team Senior Leadership Team the post holder will lead a team who will develop the curriculum and learning content using a blended learning approach. The qualification process will also fall under this postholders purview ensuring that there is robust assessment. There is much in place already internally and externally and the postholder will collaborate with subject matter experts who will be seconded from the business.

Our frontline workforce is already extremely well qualified consisting of doctors pharmacists PhD qualified scientists and data scientists for example. Many colleagues have already worked within the pharmaceutical industry. The challenge will be to develop a modular curriculum that takes account of prior learning and can be delivered in an agile way making best use of our new learning management system.

Key responsibilities:

  • To work closely with the Expert Advisory Panel and nominated subject matter experts to formulate the learning standards for key professions
  • To drive the development of a new modular learning framework based on the standards and adopt purchase or commission relevant learning with the professional guidance of nominated subject matter experts to deliver a full curriculum
  • To ensure that the development of new learning (incorporating both face to face and technology enabled learning) is engaging learnercentric and designed for a variety of learning styles
  • To oversee the planning and implementation of multiple learningbased projects simultaneously.
  • To determine and implement a systematic process for the evaluation and review of Academy learning products to ensure quality and learning standards are maintained and improvements and developments in latest best practices and learning trends are incorporated.
  • To collaborate in commissioning the MHRA Learning Management system ensuring it has the right functionality to deliver learning and track the progress of learners and manage the assessment process

Who are we looking for

Oursuccessful candidatewill have:

  • Relevant CIPD level 7 qualification in learning and development or equivalent experience
  • Skills in designing and developing successful learning programmes that align with organisational priorities collaborating with subject matter experts to ensure relevance accessibility and impact
  • Experience of measuring learning effectiveness and using evaluation data to continuously improve programme effectiveness
  • Substantial experience of commissioning learning interventions and managing projects
