Job Description

CIVIL PROJECT MANAGER (Vancouver Area)


ABOUT THE COMPANY


  • Growing Selfperforming heavy civil contractor with 50 years of experience

  • Proven ability to deliver quality work for private developer clients municipal and provincial clients as well as end user commercial clients for various infrastructure requirements

  • Projects have included municipal sewer/storm water/sanitary underground site services Light Rail Transit telecommunication cable gas lines bridge road construction and other similar excavation tunnelling earthwork requirements

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:


We are working with the Regional leader in BC to introduce strong project managers with experience working on heavy civil projects. Reporting to the Project Director the project manager will oversee multiple projects through pursuit/preconstruction permitting construction delivery and final client inspections. Working closely with a strong technical field team the project manager will be client facing and have the responsibility to deliver interesting complex and challenging infrastructure projects ranging from $1 M to $50 M for the clients.


COMPENSATION RANGE: $11000.00 $160000.00


LOCATION: Vancouver



Requirements

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Working with Estimating in project pursuits including risk management sub contract buy outs and proposals as needed

  • Prepare and manage sub contractor contracts and hold backs for project milestones

  • Monitor project status reports for performance in safety cost forecasting and scheduling

  • Manage the financial performance of the projects including approval of change orders

  • Managing project team client representative consultant and trade contractor relationships.

  • Monitoring progress of the design including compliance issues quality general coordination constructability and timing of deliverables.

  • Thorough communication of potential opportunities and challenges and managing client s expectations through regular communication.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Post secondary education or training in engineering construction management or a related discipline.

  • 10 years heavy civil construction experience with at least 3 years in a Project Management role

  • Experience in estimating civil and infrastructure projects preferred

  • Experience managing heavy civil projects such as bridges underground infrastructure excavations and/or road construction

  • Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture by application of health safety and environment principles and legislation.

  • Indepth knowledge of the construction industry including building materials construction specifications methods and procedures construction law and building codes and safety and quality management practices.

  • Strong planning organizational and time management skills including the ability to manage project budgets and schedules.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients consultants and subcontractors

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management and scheduling software
