Job Description

Summary

The Student Financial Services & Registrars Assistant is responsible for supporting the Office of the Registrar and the Student Financial Services department. This position reports to the Director of Student Financial Services & Registrar.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all visitors; provide highlevel administrative support to the Student Financial Services and Registrars office.
  • Answers phones responds to inquiries and calls and/or forward to appropriate personnel.
  • Receives sorts and distributes mail; accepts and signs for package deliveries.
  • Monitor general office email accounts and respond effectively and efficiently to all email inquiries.
  • Provide general financial aid student accounts and registrar information to students spouses parents prospective students and members of the campus community.
  • Assist with processing and reviewing FWS documents for completion; prepare FWS packets for students.
  • Scan and upload correspondence into MWUnet database.
  • Maintain office supply inventory; process requisition orders for billing purposes as needed.
  • Participate in the Entrance and Exit Interview process; complete institutional student loan servicing company loan separation forms for graduating students.
  • Assist with graduation and support office needs graduation clearance and sending documents for graduates.
  • Assist with hiring training and providing guidance and direction to Federal WorkStudy students in SFS Department.
  • Assist all staff on other projects/assignments as assigned.
  • Assists with the delivery of Student Financial Services workshops and events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director Student Financial Services and Registrars.

Planning:

  • Proactively identify risks and roadblocks that need to be addressed; identify and detail creative solutions along with preliminary recommendations to minimize the impact of these potential problems.
  • Actively participate in the annual planning process to improve operations and advance departmental objectives.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED equivalent is required associate degree preferred. Must have at least two years of financial aid student accounts or registrars office experience preferably at a graduate institution.

Computer Skills

Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word Excel Outlook).

Language Skills

Intermediate skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to groups of students spouses parents and employees of MWU.

Reasoning Ability

Intermediate skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee is regularly required to walk; reach with hands and arms.
