The Department of Natural Resources Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveysis recruiting for a Safety Officer (Field Operations) in Fairbanks.
This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:
This Safety Officer position coordinates fieldsafety operations and equipment for the Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS). Duties include:
This active safety role requires close collaboration with staff and handson project and personnel tracking equipment inventory and maintenance and indepth knowledge of field operations using helicopters fixedwing aircraft boats snow machines and ATVs for travel. In 2024 approximately 36 division staff members spent about 575 persondays in the field on 34 distinct field projects.
Mission and Values/Culture:
DGGS mission is to determine the potential of Alaskan land for production of metals minerals fuels and geothermal resources the locations and supplies of groundwater and construction material and the potential geologic hazards to buildings roads bridges and other installations and structures (AS 41.08.020). DGGS work requires field operations in often remote environments with challenging weather terrain and access. Our mission is only successful through safe operations which are ensured by this position division safety guidelines DGGS Field Operations Safety Committee and the responsible actions of all division staff.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
DGGSs two offices are in Fairbanks and at the Geologic Materials Center in Anchorage. This permanent Safety Officer position is stationed at the main DGGS Fairbanks office and oversees safety operations for all field projects the separate Fairbanks warehouse facility and the Geologic Materials Center core and sample repository.

Supplemental Questions
