We seek aPrincipal Software Engineerto serve as asenior technical leaderin modern enterprise software systems design development and evolution. This strategic engineering role is for asystems thinker and handson architectwho canmodernize complex environmentsscale automation initiatives anddrive seamless endtoend software deliveryacrosshybrid infrastructures.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortablewhiteboarding architecturewith engineersaligning technical strategywith crossfunctional executives androlling up their sleevesto implement highvalue missioncritical systems. This role demandstechnical depth and strategic foresightto advance the organizations digital transformation and operational resilience.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Automation Vision
- Develop champion and continuously evolve the organizationsenterprise automation strategy ensuring alignment with business goals and operational priorities.
- Define and maintain amultiyear automation roadmap prioritizing initiatives based onbusiness impact scalability and feasibility.
- Research evaluate and recommendbestfit automation tools platforms and emerging technologies.
Enterprise Architecture and Solution Design
- Architect and designscalable resilient and secureautomation solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing and future enterprise systems.
- Lead the creation ofcomprehensive automation workflows including crossplatform integrations system orchestrations and endtoend lifecycle management.
Technical Delivery and Execution
- Establish and enforceenterprisewide automation frameworks coding standards and best practicesto ensure consistency reusability and maintainability.
- Build and lead highperforming technical teams todesign develop and deployautomation workflows and missioncritical solutions.
- Demonstrate stronghandson development expertiseinJava (Spring Boot)andPythonto set technical direction and model engineering excellence.
Crossfunctional Collaboration and Communication
- Partner closely with IT Engineering Product Security and Business Units toidentify design and deliver automation and modernization solutions.
- Translate complex business and technical needs into precise actionable requirementsand lead technical discovery and requirements sessions.
- Communicate technical strategies and automation benefits totechnical and nontechnical stakeholders clearly and influence fully.
Operational Excellence and Governance
- Ensure automation solutions meetsecurity compliance and risk management standards includingSSO RBAC encryption and secure data handling.
- Create and maintaincomprehensive documentationto support sustainment auditing and onboarding of automation solutions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 15 years delivering enterprisegrade software systems with 8 years specializing in Javabased platforms.
- Demonstrated successleading largescale modernization efforts includinglegacy refactoringcloud migrations andmissioncritical system integrations.
- Deep technical expertise withSpring BootJava andPython including cloudnative architectures and distributed systems design.
- Proven experience designing and implementingeventdriven architectures (EDA)and buildingintegration pipelineswithinDevOps and CI/CD environments.
- Strong understanding ofsecure software design includingSSO RBAC and encryption strategies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a track record ofpresenting complex technical strategiesto senior executives and broad audiences.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience supportingfederated government systemsbiometric or identity management platforms ornationalscale analytic/reporting infrastructures.
- Familiarity withhighthroughputlowlatency andmissioncritical operating environments.
- Prior experience integrating ETL frameworks into modern cloud data pipelines.
- Professional certifications inCloud Solutions ArchitectureKubernetes or recognized enterprise engineering frameworks.
- Active or previousU.S. Government Security Clearance(Top Secret Clearable).
