Educational Stability CoordinatorWest Springfield Public SchoolsUnder the direction of the Superintendent and Executive Director of Community Relations and Educational Services the district Educational Stability Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that homeless/highly mobile children children in foster care and unaccompanied homeless youth are afforded appropriate education support as authorized under the McKinneyVento Act for Homeless Education. This individual will coordinate and collaborate with the state coordinator community agencies and school personnel responsible for the provision of education and related services to homeless and foster care students. The Educational Stability Coordinator will act as the liaison between campus principals professional school counselors school social workers and appropriate campus staff. Ensure that families and students experiencing homelessness receive educational services for which they are and maintain progress monitoring systems to track homeless students academics attendance behavior promotion and school resource systems and referrals including collaboration with homeless shelters for families and youth experiencing membership in community interagency/interdistrict teams relevant to addressing the needs of students/families (Hampden County Task Force to End Homelessness Emergency Food and Shelter Program Homeless Youth Advisory Committee Homeless Children and Families Task Force attendance committees etc.). Ensure that students experiencing homelessness have access to school services and special education and are fully informed of all transportation services including transportation to the school of scheduled best interest determination meetings and on a case by case basis consult on student assistance team meetings IEP Meetings and other relevant meetings involving an identified McKinneyVento/Foster Care crisis intervention support and advocate for students and families experiencing in the development and expenditures of state and federal to referrals and communicate outcomes to appropriate agencies when abuse or neglect is McKinneyVento Act/Foster Care Professional Development training opportunities for all district personnel throughout the year and as meetings conferences seminars and workshops to increase awareness of homeless education resources programs activities materials and law Best Interest Determinations and transportation cost professional development and training to school staff on the ESSA provisions and educational needs of children in foster care. Maintain confidentiality of student and family with supervisor administrative personnel and instructional staff as other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:Education and Experience: A minimum of eighteen graduate credits in psychology school counseling and/or social work at an accredited college. Two years of experience working as a parole probation or law enforcement official whose major responsibilities have been working with juveniles and/or in home investigations. A combination of experience working with schoolage children in a school setting or a nonschool setting deemed acceptable by the Department and education in psychology guidance and/or social work at an accredited Schedule: 185 days 37.5 hours per weekSalary: Individual Contract the salary for this position will be competitive and commensurate with the candidates educational qualifications and relevant professional experience. Candidates with advanced degrees or significant experience in the field may qualify for higher compensation within the available salary range of $70000 $80000.
