We are seeking a handson Senior Systems Engineer to join our growing team on a Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. You will play a key role in the design coordination integration and site support of critical rail systems ensuring that designs are robust interfaces are well managed and commissioning activities are successfully delivered.
This is a technical leadership role ideal for someone who enjoys detailed design work while contributing to realworld site implementation especially during Testing & Commissioning (T&C) phases.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design & Systems Engineering
- Lead the development and review of multidisciplinary system designs ensuring compliance with requirements standards and operational needs.
- Prepare and review technical documentation interface control documents design reports and specifications.
- Support requirements management activities (traceability verification validation).
- Participate in system architecture integration planning and configuration management.
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Interface Management
- Actively manage interfaces between rail systems: Signalling SCADA Telecoms Rolling Stock Track Power Depot Equipment etc.
- Identify document and resolve technical interface issues across disciplines.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors teams to ensure consistent technical alignment.
Testing & Commissioning Support
- Provide onsite technical support during T&C phases including test readiness reviews test procedure development onsite testing and troubleshooting.
- Support integration testing including dynamic testing and final system acceptance and handover.
- Liaise with client and contractor teams during field activities to resolve emerging systemlevel issues.
Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with systems integrators design consultants project managers and subcontractors.
- Attend coordination meetings and represent the systems team in design and T&C discussions.
- Support RAMS safety assurance and cybersecurity efforts by providing engineering input.
Qualifications :
Essential:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Systems or Railway Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience of relevant experience in rail systems design and integration.
- Handson experience with one or more of the following: Signalling Communications SCADA Electrification Rolling Stock interfaces or Depot Systems.
- Demonstrated experience in interface management and systemlevel design coordination.
- Experience supporting T&C activities on live projects.
- Good understanding of systems engineering principles (V&V RE Integration).
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Desirable:
- Previous experience on Light Rail or Metro projects.
- Familiarity with UK railway standards and regulations.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (e.g. CEng with IET or INCOSE certification).
- Knowledge of safetycritical system processes and RAMS frameworks.
