Role Purpose
The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative corrective and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
This role supports continuous operations by ensuring that all machinery and infrastructure function at optimal efficiency within safety and quality guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on plant equipment and systems
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and perform timely repairs
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment where required
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Respond to breakdowns and equipment failures efficiently
- Use hand tools diagnostic devices and precision instruments
- Document all repairs and maintenance activities accurately
Operational Support
- Collaborate with production teams to minimise downtime
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvement actions
- Assist with inspections and audits on plant machinery
Health Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and company standards
- Participate in toolbox talks and risk assessments
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- N3 or NQF Level 4/5 in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment
- Proven knowledge of motors pumps gearboxes bearings and conveyor systems
- Exposure to pneumatics hydraulics and basic electrical systems
- Ability to read technical drawings and manuals
