Job Description

Overview

We are gearing up for a project starting mid2025 and are looking for candidates interested in joining NSC in the not too distant future. The Network Support Engineer is responsible for analyzing testing troubleshooting and evaluating existing network systems such as local area networks (LAN) wide area networks (WAN) cloud networks servers and other data communications networks to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption.

Responsibilities

  • Strong Smarthands network device rack stack patch troubleshoot and decommission skills.
  • Ability to identify network devices (routers switches firewalls APs) and understand their basic role and functions.
  • Knowledge and experience with providing console access to devices using PuTTY to connect to devices working on a telephonic bridge with remote engineers sharing console/PuTTY access via screen sharing software.
  • Familiar with rack elevations enterprise campus MDF and IDF closets and datacentre environments.
  • Experience with installs and refresh of routers switches and APs.
  • Patch cabling power cord connections closet cable dressing.
  • Reliable and punctual in an SLA driven schedule.
  • Able to follow instructions from senior engineers both verbal and written.
  • Accurate and reliable in following site visit procedures communication requirements and protocols.
  • Professional demeanour strong communication and client facing skills.
  • A positive attitude.
  • Ability to work autonomously without direct supervision and solve unexpected problems (technical or nontechnical) on the fly.
  • Driven to deliver quality work.

Qualifications

Work Experience: More than 24 months

Language: English (written and verbal) and Local Language

Sound knowledge of:

  • Network Equipment and software

  • Load balancers
  • WLAN components
  • OEM portfolio
  • Cisco
  • HP/Dell/IBM
  • Juniper
  • Bluecoat
  • Radware
  • Checkpoint etc.
  • Active Directory

  • Apple OS

Awareness of;

  • Active Directory
  • Exchange
  • Apple OS
  • Network and server hardware and components

IT qualifications may include:

  • PCLaptop OEM Maintenance Certification
  • CompTIA A Certification and/or CCNA skills
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification in desktop area
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification
