Job Description
- Perform monthend transactional activities e.g. review of adjustments monthend closing procedures and recon preparation etc.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and follow up on long outstanding items.
- Maintain intercompany loan accounts.
- Maintain the hedging process in line with AECI Treasury policy & ensure that all imports and exports are hedged accordingly on a weekly basis.
- Manage monthly management accounts for a portfolio of internal and external customers.
- Correspond and interact with clients to obtain information required to complete tasks and to make them aware of filing deadlines and other obligations.
- Maintain operators in the various banking profiles and ensure compliance with AECI Banking policy.
- Capture loading of EFT payments; release of EFT payments process of nonvendor related payments in SAP and conducting cash book processing and bank reconciliation preparation.
- Engage with stakeholders at an operational level to address any service delivery issues.
- Comply with all legislation relating to IFRS.
- Identify internal control weaknesses and assist in developing and implementing improvement opportunities.
- Review audit instructions and compile/prepare supporting documentation for the audit process.
- Resolve audit queries and discuss with internal / external auditor where required.
- Comply with Safety Health and Environment standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- B Com degree or equivalent (Honours would be advantageous)
- Minimum 35 years experience as an Accountant Articles (advantageous)
- Understanding of manufacturing industries
- A high degree of computer literacy including advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite especially MS Excel and word.
- Sound knowledge of International financial reporting Standards (IRFS)
- Knowledge of an ERP system preferably SAP
- Knowledge of systems policies and procedures
- Knowledge of the regulatory statutory and compliance frameworks affecting area of responsibility
- Ability to extract reports from the system
