Qualifications:
- Texas Operators license and available transportation
- Bachelors degree (preferred); College hours high school diploma or GED (required)
- NIMS Certified to an emergency management coordination level (preferred)
- 2 years of experience in workplace accident investigation workplace safety inspections implementing general safety programs safety trainer and emergency management (preferably in a public school setting)
- Working knowledge of safety standards regulations and requirements as promulgated by appropriate local state and federal authorities
- Excellent organization communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize and selfmotivate work with deadlines and handle interruptions
- Ability to conduct small medium and large group instruction and presentation
Primary Purpose:
Under limited supervision this position assists the Director Emergency Management & School Safety in the implementation of the Districts emergency preparedness mitigation planning response and recovery programs; assists in coordinating the implementation of the allhazards emergency operations plan; develops implements and delivers emergency preparedness training; and performs safe/secure school audits.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support campuses in coordinating district Standard Response Protocol compliance designing conducting and directing emergency drills and exercises.
- Provide guidance and support to campus administrators facility managers and appointed teams/committees in preparing individual safety and allhazards emergency response plans.
- Assist with developing and maintaining a district allhazards emergency operation plan.
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety and security inspections and audits of district facilities to mitigate potential unsafe conditions.
- Maintain records and submit reports as required by the Texas Safe Schools Act and other competent authority.
- Provide a general and consistent safety presence at critical locations on District facilities and at District sponsored events.
- Assist with emergency management activities as directed.
- Participate in the development and implementation of emergency management goals objectives and practices.
- Maintain a collaborative liaison with local state and federal authorities entities of the public and private sector having emergency response functions and support capabilities.
- Respond to natural and manmade disasters such as hurricane tornado fire etc. (where District personnel are required).
- Provide emergency response as required.

Working Conditions:
Work with frequent interruptions maintain emotional control under stress. Repetitive hand motions bending reaching standing prolonged sitting and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional travel and prolonged or irregular hours.
