The Network Specialist (Tier3 support) plays a critical role in support the technical activities and projects associated with Telstra IP product range working to the Telstra network delivers a superior network experience for our consumer and business customers.Key areas include:
Core IP routers and capacities supporting the complete suite of International IP network services.
Internet Edge Routers providing IPT and GID services to key OTT and Eyeball customers.
Private IP service Provider Edge routers including multiple generation of PE devices servicing Telstra internal and external customers.
Overlay GMNS and SDWAN product range providing services to our enterprise customers.
Support and operational systems.
The measurable deliverables and outcome of this role include Demonstrated end to end accountability and delivery of quality Engineering solutions in relation to ongoing technical projects and architecture across the IP product range.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with operations teams when asked to provide tier 3 support of activate network elements or faults.
Support the deployment of configuration and new design / solutions to network elements.
Work with teammates to develop and test solutions within both the physical and virtual lab environments.
Support deployment activities of new technologies and hardware as driven by strategic projects associated with network enhancement and upkeep.
Work closely with product to support our customer product offerings such as SDWAN and GNMS
Provide engineering sales support responses to RFQs and tenders on potential services of a complex or novel nature that will require product enhancements and attend customer meetings as technical expert.
Identify analyse and specify new and emerging technologies technology roadmaps and product /service opportunities and work with vendors to develop solutions.
Maintaining a high level of capability in network engineering including new and emerging technologies networks tools systems and processes so that you can model continuous learning and actively provide coaching and mentoring of other network engineering team members.
Support the deployment and management of internal networks.
Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to a less technically skilled audience.
Capable of handling complex network issues and delivering customerfocused service support under high pressure.
Accountability Metrics:
Agreed quarterly individual operational key results (OKR).
Support the engineering operations associated with keeping the IP network uptodate.
Program metrics and results against predefined values
Time based projects against outcomes.
Work closely with the wider IP team to maintain the overall network health of the IP products across both the network and overlay product range.

Configuration: Develops advanced programming logic for automated configuration changes orchestration and unit testing leveraging and enhancing opensource libraries and frameworks appropriately.
Testing: Supports automated system testing and acceptance activity evaluates and addresses gaps in the system test plan determines appropriate next steps establishes norms for and coordinates automated system integration test efforts tools guidelines and frameworks for a single technology domain.
Deployment: Supports the creation of a CI/CD framework in collaboration with SMEs and partners creating deployment guidelines and approaches that address the overarching outcomes and business goals for a single technology domain in the context of the enterprisewide strategy.
Agile Team Working: Supports an agile team to plan and deliver code that meets the DoD defining SCM practices to ensure that code and associated artefacts are properly versioned and controlled.
Systems Engineering: Employs holistic systems thinking across multiple technology domains defining appropriate integration and automation patterns in reusable proof of concepts (PoC) projects contributing to complexity reduction in systems development.
Designing networks and solutions Translates requirements into a flexible customer focused and costeffective network or solution architecture that meets current and future needs.

Network solution and design: Uses tools and automation to design and evolve a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for virtualised servicebased secure and resilient networks and solutions with intrinsic automated validation collaborating across multiple domains.
Documentation: Provides review of network and solution documentation for completeness automated traceability alignment with organisational standards and ease of understanding by customers and stakeholders.
Transitioning to new networks and solutions
Selforganising networks (SON): Combines SON principals with data analytics to deliver selforganising networks.
Performance monitoring: Establishes network solution advanced performance metrics and enhances automated monitoring tools and data infrastructure to evaluate the system against these metrics contributing to the development of predictive models to automate performance monitoring and capacity forecasting.
Troubleshooting: Uses data infrastructure to automatically gather manage and analyse performance data to identify parties impacted by service level changes or outages escalates to relevant internal stakeholders taking ownership and collaborating across teams.
Optimisation: Evaluates automated optimisation opportunities for improving customer centricity judging tradeoffs between cost and customer benefits using data and analytics to gain buyin from stakeholders.
Lifecycle management: Proactively manages network and IT lifecycle using data to forecast end of life developing retirement schedules in line with maintenance strategy.
Network Business and Commercial Defines and manages business and commercial agreements for the costeffective delivery of network solutions.
Business case: Owns the development of compelling business cases working across the organisation to identify costs and benefits for different business units performs sensitivity analysis and presents multiple business case options for assessment critically evaluating designs for resilience costeffectiveness scalability security and performance.
Partners and Vendors: Significantly contributes to the development of commercial arrangements with vendors and partners to ensure cost effective delivery of highquality networks and solutions. Manages commercial relationships for a significant functional area within Networks.
Commercial Strategy: Substantially contributes to commercial strategy to deliver required outcomes. Critically assesses technology selection to determine most economically viable solutions taking into account deployment costs and all ongoing costs this may include consideration of capital expenditure versus consumption services models
Qualifications/Experiences:
University graduate in Telecommunication or related study.
Industry certification is requirement with a preference for candidates with Cisco CCIE and Juniper JNCIE certifications.
Indepth knowledge of Juniper and Cisco IP networking and equipment
Excellent analytical and writing skills with an attention to details.
The ability to remain calm under pressure when faced with adversity or urgent issues experience working in an operational capacity.
Working hours: This is Tier3(Level3) support role and the team members will be involved in resolving the escalated issues from Level1 and Level2 support team. This wont be a 24/7 support role. Tier3 support engineers will be part of recall roster for the technical support on a rotation basis.
