REPORTS TO: Assigned Teacher Principal Superintendent
STARTING WAGE: $18 per hour; any raises begin September 1
HOURS OF WORK: 7.5 hours per day starting as early as 7:30 am and ending as late as 4:30 pm with 30 minutes off for lunch as scheduled by Principal
DAYS OF WORK: Monday through Friday when students are present at school
SICK LEAVE: 37.5 hours per school year can accumulate up to 112.5 hours (no pay for unused)
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: 37.5 hours per school year
PERSONAL LEAVE: 7.5 hours per school year
PAID HOLIDAYS: 4 days (7.5 hours each) per school year (New Years Labor Day Thanksgiving Christmas)
RETIREMENT: 9.78% of wages are deducted from paychecks for deposit in a retirement account. The District matches that amount at 9.8778%. The State also makes a 2% contribution.
OTHER: AFLAC Insurance is available for life health dental vision and disability. A 403b retirement plan is available.
REQUIREMENT: Successful completion of Project Para (NCLB Section) by the end of the first semester of employment
DUTIES:
- Observe students for signs of distress and attempt to put them at ease
- Provide a positive role model for students by ensuring appropriate conduct at all time
- Encourage appropriate behavior and politeness
- Work with students to provide teacherdesigned interventions to progress the students toward higher levels of proficiency
- Provide oneonone or small group assistance for students needing individual attention
- Tutor or facilitate small group instruction as directed and supervised by a teacher
- Assist students with makeup work
- Record the daily progress of student performance as directed by a teacher
- Read tests and/or assignments aloud to students per guidance on student IEPs
- Assist teachers as needed with student discipline
- Supervise students at cafeteria playground restroom hallways specials classes and field trips
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with all school district employees students and parents
- Escort students to various locations on campus
- Assist students with buttoning coats tying shoes putting on overshoes etc.
- Assist students in the lunchroom carrying trays cleaning up spills microwaving student meals
- Assist students with any behavioral and physical disabilities
- Collect and/or disseminate notes and/or money to/from parents and teachers
- Assist in preparation of written reports including but not limited to progress reports and IEPs
- May attend SAT and/or IEP meetings
- Prepare classroom materials bulletin board displays special event programs etc.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing copying stuffing envelopes etc.
- Keep up to date on student grades in all classes
- Remind students of assignment due dates and assist in submitting work
- Assist students in toileting
- Push wheelchairs as needed
- Feed students
- Assist students in dressing and other personal care when needed
- Assist classroom teachers in order to help all students reach their potential
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
