Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY/CLASS DESCRIPTION

    This position would be knowledgeable of assistive technology including durable medical equipment. Serves the general public and provides consumers and caregivers with information to assist them in making informed choices about services needed. Counsels them on options available services and programs that may be suitable for their particular needs and financial circumstances. Identifies atrisk consumers their needs and counsels them and their caregivers on appropriate services and programs. Where appropriate refers consumers to local State and National programs for and obtaining benefits and provides followup.

    STARTING SALARY HIRING RANGE:
    $16.00 $23.00

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Knowledgeable about all direct service functions of the Loan Closet. Assists with services including consumer intake and application process matching device to consumer training on equipment delivery and consumer followup.

    Assists with all program operations including cleaning storage device tracking and donations.

    Responsible for opening and closing center as needed and provides backup for other staff as needed.

    Along with the Loan Closet team assures appropriate staff coverage for center during business hours.

    MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    Bachelors Degree and one 1 year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Bachelors Degree and two 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience working with older adults and/or persons with disabilities

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Understanding of private and public Aging and Disability resources.

    Knowledge of durable medical equipment and basic wheelchair assessment.

    Healthcare Background and/or Licensed Healthcare professional.

    Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office related programs.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; use hands to finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    The noise level in the work environment usually moderate due to volume of activity and noise of sanitization equipment protective equipment is provided in the form of ear plugs.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS MATHEMATICAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.

    Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral or schedule form.

    CERTIFICATES LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

    Maryland Class C Drivers License or equivalent issued by state of residence.
