Job Description
We are proud to be partnering with a forwardthinking ecotourism and conservation initiative to find a Head Field Guide with a strong leadership presence a passion for the natural world and a deep commitment to community engagement.
This is not your typical Big 5 guiding job. Our client s reserve offers a different kind of wild one that thrives on biodiversity education and peoplecentered conservation. If you re a seasoned guide with an interest in making a real difference both in nature and in surrounding communities this might be your client operates a unique nonBig 5 game farm dedicated to regenerative conservation meaningful guest experiences and impactful partnerships with local communities. Through immersive ecotourism environmental education and grassroots upliftment programs they re reimagining what a safari experience can be.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guiding & Interpretation:
Lead nature walks vehicle tours and tailored experiences with a strong educational and conservation focus. - Team Leadership:
Mentor and coordinate a small guiding team ensuring consistency in guest experience and operational standards. - Conservation Support:
Work alongside the farm s conservation team on ecological monitoring invasive species control and wildlife tracking. - Community Involvement:
Actively support local outreach programs school visits youth education and cultural exchange activities. - Health Safety & Admin:
Maintain safety protocols guiding equipment and contribute to scheduling and reporting systems.
Requirements
CATHSSETAAccredited Nature Site Guide (NQF Level 2
Valid PDP and First Aid Level 1
At least 5 years guiding experience with 2 years in a senior/leadership role
Exceptional knowledge of South African flora fauna and conservation challenges
Demonstrated experience engaging with rural communities or running outreach programs
Confident communicator with natural mentorship abilities
Flexible grounded and passionate about authentic meaningful ecotourism
