Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The mission of the HamiltonWenham Food Services department is to prepare nutritious affordable and appealing meals for the school community and to provide the children with nutrition education for lifelong healthy eating :Education and Experience: School diploma or or more years experience in quantity food to date ServSafe certification. supervisory experience preferredNecessary Knowledge Skills and Abilities: knowledge of food products materials supplies methods and techniques used in food preparation and be able to read write and follow directions in to perform simple math to communicate effectively to organize and delegate duties to appropriate staffPhysical requirements:A. Ability to perform physical work efficiently with long periods of standing twisting bending and moving about. Lifting of food and supplies components up to 40 pounds may be necessary.B. Ability to work with chemical cleaning productsC. Environment may be hot and noisyDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:I. Purchasing/Receiving/Cost Control: orders (grocery supplies produce milk etc. in accordance with the lunch menus accurately and on time. Procedures subject to change based on bid awards review deliveries from vendors record date and temperature of food products and submit signed invoices to the issues to the Director regarding vendor/product performance/ food costs by monitoring the use of standardized recipes and adherence to portion control measures.2. Reports: and submit data for monthly inventory accurately and on maintains and completes (or assigns to appropriate staff member) production meal counts and cash transactions via pointofsale system and submits required paperwork on time and without error. cash for deposit and brings to office daily or weekly per nutrition office daily and monthly records for refrigeration/freezer temps food temps and sanitation and keeps on file for one year.3. Meal Preparation and Customer Service: and enforces all regulations regarding the proper handling of food products chemicals and paper products as stated in the Massachusetts Food how and trains staff how to care for and use of kitchen equipment (including steamer meat slicer large kettles ovens andbread slicer). staff is accurately following recipes and performing variouspreparation (i.e. safe food handling procedures) and serving tasks (i.e. portion control) to preserve food quality/safety promote efficient meal service and maintain visual appeal while following National School Lunch Program the preparation of meals utilizing quantity food preparation meal meals prepared to students and staff with enthusiasm and a positive attitude4. Personnel Management: in selecting the personnel best qualified to work effectively toward meeting the objectives of the School Lunch employee job performance on a regular basis and assists in the preparation of annual employee performance regular staff work schedules for the staff within budgeted labor employees for extra curricular payroll timesheets and forwards them to the Nutrition Service Director accurately and on employees are following department policies and procedures5. Other Expectations: in a positive and professional manner both verbally and written with students parents administrators teachers coworkers and a positive attitude towards work and responds well to constructive criticism and changes in regulations/assignments. Exhibits a positive attitude and professional manner compatible with the culture of the school as set forth by the principal and has the ability to promote the culture of the school as set forth by the principal even in willingness to undertake a work assignment to work on time as scheduled and maintains a good attendance to find substitutes for call whenever possible SNA Chapter 3 or other sponsored conferences/workshops/staff development preventative maintenance on equipment and appliances in the Cafeteria/ and breakdown of kitchens during and all other tasks and projects as instructed by the to operate a computer; use email word processing and spreadsheet programs (new hires as of 6/ in menu development and policy requirements of ala carte understand budgetary constraints when making decisionsSELECTION GUIDELINESFormal application oral interview reference check.
