The Public Employees Retirement System is recruiting forone 1)Systems Engineer (Information Systems Specialist 5)position within the Information Services Divisions Developmental Operations Team
- This is a fulltime permanent position.
- This position is based at our headquarters office in Tigard Oregon however the successful candidate will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
- This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
- This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
We serve the people of Oregon by administering public employee benefit trusts to pay the right person the right benefit at the right time.
What you will be doing:
As a Systems Engineer (Information Systems Specialist 5 you will be responsible for administering maintaining and improving IT applications providing technical support by configuring installing analyzing planning developing evaluating integrating implementing and troubleshooting software hardware and other agency IT infrastructure.
You will also be offering second and thirdlevel software support for the agencys missioncritical software applications analyzing system performance and addressing problems resolving system problems that affect IT application usability or performance and ensuring the smooth operation of the agency in a timely manner collaborating with staff and providing excellent customer service and performing other duties as required to meet the operational needs of the agency.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
Systems Engineer (Information Systems Specialist 5
Four 4 years of information systems experience in: Systems Administration and Service Desk or Help Desk Support;
OR
An Associates degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field OR completion of a two 2 year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
AND
two 2 years of information systems experience in: Systems Administration and Service Desk or Help Desk Support;
OR
A Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related field may substitute for all of the above.
Candidates who are the most competitive will possess the following skills background and areas of experience:
- Excellent communication skills able to communicate technical concepts at all levels of an organization.
- Skilled at learning and implementing new technologies.
- Experience in troubleshooting technical problems and documenting for reference.
- Familiarity in building virtual services and virtual machines.
- Familiar in deployment and administration of JBoss Web application server IBM WebSphere and FileNet.
- Understanding of installation configuration and maintenance of Enterprise Applications on various platforms troubleshooting performance tuning etc.
- Understanding of Microsoft Activity Directory group policy objects and accounts and IIS etc.
- Familiar with different protocols like LDAP SSL and JBoss Credential store.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies such as laaS and Paas.
- Ability to collaborate with team and outside contractors to accomplish tasks
