Duties and responsibilities
Oversee the provision of highquality reference research and instructional services.
Ensure effective access to print and digital scholarly resources.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with consortia and external libraries.
Propose budget allocation for postal of information resources to the sector
Provide guidance on copyright restrictions and fair use policies.
Ensure adherence to copyright laws and licensing agreements related to interlibrary loans.
Develop and update ILL standard operating procedures and processes to align with institutional and consortia agreements.
Ensure adherence to copyright laws and licensing agreements related to interlibrary loans.
Request and supply books and journal articles to and from other institutions and university libraries nationally and internationally.
Search databases and catalogues for requested information resources.
Monitor requests and receive books and journal articles sent from other institutions.
Liaise with clients regarding the progress of their requests.
Manage the administrative tasks of InterLibrary Loans (e.g. preparing packages scanning articles etc.
Keep relevant daily activity statistics and report them monthly and quarterly.
Liaise with the Courrier services to collect material and trace missing material
Communicate with librarians from other institutions regarding ILL
Liaise with users and institutions who have overdue ILL material.
Utilize interlibrary loan management systems (e.g. OCLC ILLiad Tipasa) for efficient request processing
Develop training guides on how to request and access interlibrary loan materials.
Troubleshoot system issues and ensure seamless digital resource sharing.
Maintain an updated database of partner libraries and resourcesharing networks.
Ensure adherence to copyright laws and licensing agreements related to interlibrary loans.
Monitor and evaluate the efficiency and costeffectiveness of ILL services.
Ensure timely fulfilment of requests and track loaned materials.
Provide guidance on copyright restrictions and fair use policies.
Ensure compliance with national and international academic library standards.
Maintain records of borrowing and lending transactions for compliance reporting.
Analyse ILL request to advise the collection development committee on the collection gaps.
Identify frequently requested materials through ILL transactions to inform collection development.
Recommend acquisitions to strengthen the librarys holdings and reduce reliance on external loans.
Collaborate with faculty librarians to assess collection needs and fill resource gaps.
Monitor trends in resource sharing to align collection development strategies with academic demands.
Inherent Job Requirements
Bachelors degree or BTech degree on NQF Level 7 in Library and Information Science
or
Any Degree plus Postgraduate diploma on NQF Level 8 in Library and Information Science
Minimum of one 1 years relevant working experience relating to the duties and responsibilities.
Membership of LIASA (attach the 2025 certificate).
Recommendations
Honours degree on NQF Level 8 in the field of Library and Information Science.
Experience within the highereducation environment.
Knowledge of university systems policies and procedures.

Salary:
The annual remuneration package including benefits is R 388426.59 R 487479.38 per annum depending on the budget available for the position relevant work experience and qualifications.
