Job Description

POSITION: District Assessment & Elementary Curriculum Director
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent

LOCATION: Kenowa Hills Administration Building

BEGINNING: July 1 2025 (or sooner based on final candidates availability)

NUMBER OF DAYS/LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Fulltime yearround 260day) position/One year continuing contract subject to performance reviews.

SALARY: $90000 $106200

BENEFITS: A generous fringe benefit package is authorized by the Board of Education


SUMMARY: The District Assessment and Elementary Curriculum Director serves as a forwardthinking collaborative and studentcentered instructional leader for the district. This dualrole position will oversee the continued development and implementation of a robust standardsaligned elementary curriculum while ensuring compliance with evolving state requirements. Additionally this role will lead the coordination of the districts state and federal assessment program and processes to ensure the utilization of assessment results to drive school improvement processes and the delivery of targeted student supports and interventions. The successful candidate will be an instructional leader who is passionate about elevating teaching and learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of elementary students attending Kenowa Hills Public Schools.

This position serves as an integral member of the Districts Office of Teaching and Learning working in close coordination with the Assistant Superintendent to coordinate alignment with applicable state and federal grant program delivery and reporting requirements. This administrative position is also part of the Districts Administrative Team and Cabinet.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. At least five 5 years of successful teaching experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of skills and abilities related to meeting the rich and diverse needs of a school community are required.
  2. Educational leadership experience(s) required. Candidates lacking previous building or district administrative position(s) should be able to cite highly successful leadership roles (such as a department grade level or school improvement chair positions).
  3. A minimum of a Bachelors Degree advanced degree in Curriculum or Educational Administration or equivalent preferred.
  4. Administration Certificate Required. Candidates lacking an administrative certificate will be considered if they are on track to obtain an administrative certificate by June 30 2026.
  5. Understanding and experience within proficiencybased educational systems preferred.
  6. Experience administering local and state assessments including methods of data analysis and best practices for the dissemination of assessment results to stakeholders
  7. Knowledge and experience with School Improvement processes and state requirements of schools within the Michigan Continuous Improvement Planning process.
  8. Must have demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with teachers teacher leaders other administrators and parents/guardians.
  9. Knowledge of and experience with budgeting monitoring and reporting the results of federal and state grant programs.
  10. Excellent communication public relations and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals and organizations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • K12 Assessment Management

      • Ensures compliance with all state and federal testing regulations guidelines and timelines as outlined by the Michigan Department of Education.
      • Oversees all aspects of the districts assessment program (local assessments Acadience iReady NWEA MSTEP PSAT/SAT WorkKeys) including scheduling coordinating logistics training test proctors and ensuring accurate data collection.
      • Collaborates with building administrators to ensure that testing environments are secure accessible and efficient.
      • Facilitates and supports the analysis of state and federal assessment data to inform district and buildinglevel decisionmaking in support of the school improvement process that results in improvements in curriculum instruction and assessment.

  • Elementary Curriculum Director

      • Leads and coordinates selection and procurement of highquality instructional materials in collaboration with teachers and administrators to support evidencebased instructional planning program implementation instructional delivery and assessment. Ensures that instructional materials and practices are aligned with district goals state standards and best instructional practices.
      • Collaborates with principals instructional coaches gradelevel chairs and teaching staff to continually refine and enhance curriculum guides pacing guides and instructional resources.
      • Working in conjunction with the Districts Administrative Cabinet; plans for coordinates and delivers professional learning programs to meet the districts professional development needs and inservice training programs for all staff that is congruent with curricular and district goals. Includes onboarding for new teachers administrators and other staff.
      • Leads professional development sessions for elementary staff focusing on researchbased instructional strategies datadriven decisionmaking and differentiated instruction.
      • In conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent administers and supervises all district school improvement activities.
      • Maintains current knowledge of emerging trends evidencebased practices and new developments in K5 curriculum and instruction.

  • Elementary Instructional Support

      • Supports principals gradelevel chairs and teachers with interpreting assessment data to inform instructional practices and curricular adjustments.
      • Promotes instructional innovation integrating technology tools and innovative instructional practices to meet the needs of 21stcentury learners.

  • Fosters a culturally responsive approach to curriculum design and teaching practices that address the diverse needs of the districts elementary student population.
  • Supports library service functions across the district and instructional use of technology by staff and students.
  • Coordinates summer learning opportunities for elementary students to include monitoring and reporting of student learning outcomes.

  • Grant Development & Program Monitoring

      • Works closely with the Assistant Superintendent and Director of Finance to identify develop and submit applications for state and federal grants designed to enhance and support district initiatives professional development and related programs.
      • Monitors the implementation of funded programs to ensure adherence to grant requirements timelines and budgets.
      • Collects and analyzes data to measure grant program effectiveness providing regular updates and reports to district leadership and external stakeholders.

  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

      • Works closely with the Assistant Superintendent and other district leaders building principals instructional coaches and teachers to align elementary curriculum materials with districtwide priorities initiatives and School Improvement processes.
      • Collaborates with professional learning communities (PLCs) to foster a culture of continuous improvement datadriven instruction and shared best practices.
      • Communicates effectively with families staff and the broader community regarding curriculum changes instructional practices and testing requirements.

  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders to identify additional funding opportunities and develop supportive community partnerships.

  • Leadership & Administration

    • Contributes to district leadership meetings serving as a resource for elementary curriculum and assessment practices.
    • Develops and monitors budgets related to curriculum resources professional development testing administration and grantfunded programs.
    • Supervises and evaluates district staff consultants or other personnel as assigned.
    • Prepares and presents reports to district leadership school board members and other stakeholders on curriculum updates testing outcomes grant program progress and overall program effectiveness.
    • Other duties pertinent to the position and assigned by the superintendent or designee.
