Summary of Job Duties:

The Admissions Counselor/Recruiter for Transfer Students plays a critical role in executing the Universitys recruitment efforts with a particular focus on attracting nontraditional students and transfer students from community colleges and other postsecondary institutions. This position requires dynamic relationship building strategic communication and travel to community colleges and other potential feeder institutions. It is enrollmentfocused and achieving transfer enrollment targets is a key performance indicator. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • A bachelors degree;

  • At least two 2 years of experience in admissions/recruitment customer service marketing or a related field.

Preferred Education and Experience :

  • Direct experience working with or recruiting transfer students;

  • Familiarity with transfer credit evaluation and articulation agreements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with community colleges to cultivate strong recruitment pipelines including articulations and transferfriendly partnerships;

  • Visit community colleges and attend transfer fairs to recruit prospective transfer students deliver presentations and meet with students and advisors;

  • Engage with prospective transfer students through email phone text social media and inperson meetings to provide critical information regarding transfer credit evaluation important dates and deadlines missing credentials and the enrollment process;

  • Plan organize and participate in oncampus and offcampus transferspecific recruitment events including transfer information sessions and orientation activities;

  • Establish and strengthen partnerships within the local and regional community to increase awareness of transfer pathways and ensure a positive transfer student experience;

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative transfer recruitment strategies and projects including digital campaigns and targeted outreach to adult learners;

  • Collaborate with campus departments (e.g. academic advising financial aid registrars office) to coordinate recruitment activities and ensure a seamless transition for transfer students;

  • Track and report transfer recruitment activities to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement;

  • Assist prospective transfer students and visitors with navigating the application process financial aid and the student information system specifically focusing on credit transfer and degree completion pathways;

  • Provide prospective transfer students and visitors with comprehensive information about admissions requirements and undergraduate programs of study ensuring clarity about how previous credits apply to their chosen majors;

  • Conduct campus tours tailored to transfer students highlighting resources such as transfer advising academic support services and student life opportunities;

  • Perform data entry and review incoming transcripts test scores and other relevant credentials to uphold admission standards and evaluate transfer credit;

  • Evaluate transfer student applications to determine admissibility and render admission decisions in alignment with university and programspecific transfer policies;

  • Use online resources to verify accreditation of colleges attended by transfer applicants and confirm enrollment at prior institutions;

  • Serve as an essential employee during campus closures working oncampus or remotely as required by the employees supervisor to ensure continuity of necessary services;

  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the transfer recruitment and admissions process.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the transfer enrollment process including transcript evaluation articulation agreements and equivalency guides;

  • Proficiency in managing and analyzing data files while utilizing a centralized administrative system;

  • Ability to read maps provide accurate directions and navigate unfamiliar locations effectively;

  • Proficiency with internet and standard office technology tools (e.g. email internet search engines Microsoft Word Excel Access);

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks projects and documents simultaneously;

  • Ability to maintain wellorganized working files and accurate documentation for assigned projects;

  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule including evenings weekends and holidays as required;

  • Demonstrated ability to selfinitiate and complete project tasks with minimal supervision;

  • Exceptional communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to effectively engage with nontechnical users and provide clear explanations;

  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiencesincluding community college faculty staff and prospective transfer students;

  • Ability to create concise reports or narratives that analyze and interpret data explaining its relevance to specific recruitment strategies;

  • Valid drivers license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle safely;

  • Willingness and ability to travel instate and outofstate including overnight stays as part of transfer recruitment responsibilities.
