Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach and assess Mathematics or Applied Mathematics courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Supervise postgraduate students.
Conduct research and publish in accredited journals.
Obtain research funding from industry parastatals and international grants.
Perform administrative tasks and other department and faculty activities.

Inherent Job Requirements:

Lecturer
A PhD in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics on NQF Level 10 (for a permanent appointment).
or
Masters degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics on NQF Level 9 (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position).
A proven ability and experience (at least 3 years) in teaching Mathematics at the university level.
A lecturing track record that demonstrates innovation and reflexive practice.
Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
A good academic record (attached).

Recommendations:

Experience in teaching large classes (e.g. more than 300 students.
Experience in educational research or academic development work.
