REPORTS TO: Principal / Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A full contract for this position is 190 days with benefits as specified in employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on the actual start date.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Advocate for the needs of gifted students
- Participate in professional development opportunities to remain current in practices and resources for gifted students
- Keep accurate documentation regarding identification student attendance provision of services and communication
- Assess program candidates using district approved instruments
- Chair the Building Level Review Team
- Interpret and communicate assessment results with staff and parents
- Collaborate with other district gifted specialists in developing lessons to meet the needs of identified students
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
- Locate plan and utilize a variety of material technological and human resources appropriately and in good stewardship to achieve lesson goals
- Prepare and submit materials requests which appropriately utilize supply funds in a fiscally responsible manner
- Facilitate enriching and advanced lessons and experiences designed to meet individual student academic needs and interests
- Accurately and fairly evaluate student progress on meeting program and content goals
- Communicate feedback and evaluation data on an ongoing basis with students and parents
- Serve as a consultant and provide resources for regular classroom teachers who have gifted students
- Communicate on an ongoing basis program and lesson objectives and activities with school and district staff and parents
- Conduct professional development for staff in the district and/or school as needed
- Participate in Advisory Council meetings
- Inform students and parents of enrichment opportunities which are extracurricular and hosted by either the school or another educational agency
- Fulfill all job requirements from the teacher job description
- Conduct activities eliciting input from various stakeholders for program evaluation
- Assist the gifted coordinator in the performance of his/her duties
- Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities
- Carries out duty as assigned including afterschool or beforeschool duties
- Participates in grade level collaboration planning as part of PLCs as well as school committees
- Serves as the Quiz Bowl coach for secondary schools
- Supervises students on recess bus during before and after school duty on field trips extracurricular events and in outofclassroom activities during the assigned working day
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance
- Attends building events/activities at night as requested by administration
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain positive professional working relationships with others
- Maintains emotional control under stress
- Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally
- May be required to physically move students or equipment weighing up to 40 lbs
- Ability to endure prolonged standing walking sitting kneeling occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders bending and squatting
