Youth Care Practitioner Part Time Youth Resource Centre Thompson MB

SUMMARY:Youth Care Practitioners (YCPs) in the YRC operated by The Link report to their immediate Supervisor and are responsible for implementing all aspects of the daytoday functioning of the program. YCPs are expected to provide ongoing culturally sensitive care while adhering to organizational policies and procedures. A major focus of their work is to provide support for highrisk children and youth who are at risk of becoming victims of sexualexploitation or who have already become are responsible for engaging youth in welcoming and nonjudgmental ways. YCPs are expected to be a positive rolemodels atalltimes and to intervene purposefully into the young peoples daily life events in a manner which will help the young person recognize risks for being sexually exploited. Youth Care Practitioners work from a needsbased trauma informed relational child and youth care approach as per the agency expectations and standards.

Duties are varied following established service plan procedures and policies with some judgement required to determine the most appropriate of a limited number of alternatives. Nonroutine or unusual situations are referred to the supervisor. Actions could result in inadequate services that could have a negative impact on The Link to employees customers youth and communities. Misconduct could result in major loss of time or resources could cause embarrassment within the organization and have a negative impact on the organization to customers communities and/or its public image.

SALARY RANGE: $18.00 per hour plus a Northern Allowance based on a percentage of the wage.

HOURS OF WORK:Combination of days evenings overnights or weekends depending on the program need.
