Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Adolescent OB Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician/ Program Coordinator is an important dual role that provides clinical social work support to clients as well as administrative operations to maintain and grow the program. This role involves working closely with healthcare professionals within the Obstetrics and Gynecology department to address the unique social and emotional needs of pregnant and postpartum parents under 25 years old ensuring their wellbeing and promoting positive outcomes for both the adolescent parent and the unborn child. Clinical responsibilities for services include but are not limited to conducting psychosocial assessments individual therapy crisis interventions leading groups formulating psychosocial diagnoses and treatment plans and implementing effective evidencebased treatments for patients and family members.

This dual role also involves coordinating and/or participating in the following programming initiatives: Adolescent Pregnant and Young Parent Advisory Board Postpartum Support Groups Breastfeeding Support Groups attending monthly MDPH conference calls submitting monthly programmatic data and quarterly and annual reports to MDPH and coordinate multidisciplinary program team meetings monthly. The Program Coordinator will also be responsible for helping the Midwifery Administrative Coordinator manage the budget and grant requirements of the program.

The role is hybrid.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

Requirements

  • Requires Masters Degree from an accredited school of Social Work or Mental Health Counseling and experience with traumainformed care.
  • Previous experience in Integrated Behavioral Health or Medical Setting preferred.
  • Previous experience with adolescent child and/or pregnancy care preferred.
  • Requires level of knowledge of Social Work process and community resources and agencies in relation to health illness and disability and social determinants of health.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with various healthcare professionals to develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a diverse patient humility is very important.
  • Bicultural/Bilingual competency in Haitian Creole or Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team with excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Computer literacy with ability to use standard word processing spreadsheet programs and email (i.e. MS Word Excel Outlook) and web browsers.
  • Must be comfortable in a fast paced and dynamic work environment (sense of humor is valued).
  • Supports the Midwifery Administrator Coordinator in the design of performance objectives and implements and monitors programming to meet desired outcomes
  • Takes inventory and orders various supplies such as cribs car seats strollers clothing and toys.
  • Works with the grant office to process payments
  • Build reports for ongoing data collectionrelated to program and outcome measures
  • Schedules and keeps notes on routine meetings/advisory board/Support Groups
  • Attend monthly MDPH conference calls
  • Maintains records and databases
  • Sends mailings/texts when appropriate
  • Liaison betweenthe Ob/Gyn Department MA DPH and our cross sectoral partners within community and state agencies.
  • Submit monthly programmatic data and quarterly and annual reports to MDPH
  • Schedule training/events for Teen OB Clinic Program and participants; and coordinate multidisciplinary program team meetings monthly.
  • The Program Coordinator will also be responsible in helping the Midwifery Administrative Coordinator manage the budget and grant requirements of the program .

Other Responsibilities

  • Obtaining continuing education as necessary to maintain licensure.
  • Utilizes hospitals behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to facilitate the hospitals mission.
  • Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality according to hospital policy. Practices professional discretion when determining the inclusion of any patient information into medical record or department clinical record notes.
  • Documents each patient encounter in the medical record or the Department clinical record concurrently according to Department policies.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION:

Requires Masters Degree from an accredited school of Social Work or school of Mental Health Counseling or related field as determined by the Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professions

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Requires a current Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).

EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in Integrated Behavioral Health or Medical Setting preferred. Requires level of knowledge of Social Work process and community resources and agencies in relation to health illness and disability and social determinants of health.

Experience as research assistant or program coordinator preferred but not necessary.

  • Skilled at engaging difficult to engage patientsbuild rapport trust
  • Ability to adapt to changes in healthcare delivery at local and systems level
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of racial and ethnic populations.
  • Computer literacy with ability to use standard word processing spreadsheet programs and email (i.e. MS Word Excel Outlook) and web browsers.
  • Experience with EPIC preferred
