Job Description

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL


QUALIFICATIONS: General qualifications of a teacher in the State of Missouri; two years of teaching experience and/or supervisor experience; completion of Masters degree in educational administration; successful completion of the Principals assessment designated by the State Board of Education; skill and knowledge of the grade level curriculum; knowledge of annual reporting of MAP and NCLB requirements; and such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate.

REPORTS TO: High School Principal

SUPERVISES: As designated by High School Principal

JOB GOAL: To supervise the total operation of the assigned school providing leadership and direction and creating a businesslike and productive atmosphere where students can learn.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Responsibilities

Assist with student discipline
Monitor attendance policy
Coordinate Patriot Advisory Time
Limited evaluation of tenure teachers

Standard 1: Facilitates the development articulation implementation and
stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.

  1. Effectively communicates vision and mission of school to staff parents students and community members.
  2. Clearly articulates implementation plan in which strategies and objectives for accomplishing vision and goals are outlined.. Uses assessment data related to student learning to develop the school vision and mission.
  3. Uses relevant demographic data pertaining to students and their families in developing the school mission and goals.
  4. Regularly monitors evaluates and revises the vision mission and implementation plans with input from all stakeholders.
  5. Keeps current professionally by membership in professional organizations and reading professional literature.

Standard 2: Advocates nurtures and sustains a school culture and instructional
program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.

  1. Designs professional development focused on improving student achievement which is consistent with the school vision and goals.
  2. Provides a school climate in which students and staff feel valued and important and in which accomplishments are recognized and celebrated.
  3. Assesses school culture and climate on a regular basis.
  4. Identifies clarifies and addresses barriers to student learning.
  5. Maintains a culture of high expectations for self student and staff performance.

community interests and needs and mobilizes community resources.

  1. Communicates with the larger community through high visibility and active involvement.
  2. Shares information about family and community concerns and expectations on a regular basis.
  3. Recognizes the school and community serve one another as resources.

  3. Formulates school policies and procedures that work within the framework of policies laws and regulations enacted by local state and federal authorities.
  4. Represents district at professional meetings of interest to education.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Tenmonth contract or 200 days. Salary determined according to Administrative salary schedule.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principal or designated supervisor in accordance with Board of Education regulations.

DIRECTOR OF DISTRICT MSHSAA ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES


Athletic Director

QUALIFICATIONS: A combination of 5 years of successful experience in teaching coaching and/or school administration; effective evaluation skills to continually improve district MSHSAA athletic activities and performance of coaches; thorough knowledge of all MSHSAA athletic programs including cheerleading (excluding competitions); skills in communication and interpersonal relations; such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: High School Principal

JOB GOAL: To assist the administration in providing a district athletic program for students following MSHSAA regulations and school policies.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists with recruiting interviewing and recommending candidates collaboratively with administration for employment.
  2. Initiates and collaborates with building principals in the annual evaluation process of coaches.
  3. Ensures that each coach is aware of school district policies and adheres to the MSHSAA regulations.
  4. Responsible for administering the athletic budgets and ordering athletic supplies and equipment.
  5. Provides for the Board of Education an athletic report semiannually.
  6. Maintains all reports as required by MSHSAA regulations and school policy.
  7. Prepares and submits all necessary MSHSAA eligibility lists after the information is received from the coaches.
  8. Meets annually with all coaches prior to the start of each school year.
  9. Supervises athletic events in collaboration with building principals.
  10. Coordinates the practice bus schedules for district MSHSAA activities.
  11. Designs and maintains a master schedule of all 712 interschool MSHSAA events with the goal of eliminating schedule conflicts between games concerts and events.
  12. Secures all workers officials judges and emergency personnel; coordinates required transportation; and prepares programs for home contests in collaboration with building principals.
  13. Provides a system of accountability and security for all game/program receipts collected for all district MSHSAA athletic events.
  14. Coordinates district MSHSAA athletic awards programs.
  15. Provides a system to initiate timely information to all appropriate news media regarding athletic events.
  16. Serves as school district liaison to community recreation programs and assists with coordination of the youth sports programs.
  17. Serves as school district liaison to the Athletic Booster Club
  18. Ensures that all coaches are certified in CPR and First Aid
  19. Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as assigned by the high school principal and/or Superintendent.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.


EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the High School Principal in conjunction with the Superintendent in accordance with provisions on the Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
