TITLE:School Psychologist
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Shall hold valid Arizona certification in school psychology.
2. Threeyears successful experience in educational psychology or related field preferred.
REPORTS TO:
Special Education Director
JOB GOAL:
To provide comprehensive direct and indirect school psychological services to promote mental health and facilitate learning.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serves on Child Study team at each school to collaborate with parents school and outside personnel regarding mental health behavioral and education concerns. Assists the team in generating education alternatives modifications referrals for assessment or communitybased interventions/services.
2. Conducts multi factored psychological and psychoeducational assessments of children and youth referred according to state and federal mandates. Assessments include but are not limited to; consideration as appropriate of the areas of personalsocial adjustment intelligencescholastic aptitude adaptive behavior language and communication skills academic achievement sensory and perceptualmotor functioning environmentalcultural influences and vocational development aptitude and interests.
3. Generates a psychoeducational report following each assessment which contains all required components as defined by state and federal mandates.
4. Reviews psychoeducational evaluation reports of all special education transfer students and writes addendum to include any missing components required by state and federal mandates.
5. Participates as case manager at multidisciplinary conference to interpret results of the psychoeducational evaluation make recommendations and assist in making educational placements.
6. Assists in the development of the Individualized Educational Program (IEP) for all students placed in special education programs.
7. Provides inservice and other skill enhancement activities to school personnel parents and others in the community regarding issues of learning development and behavior.
8. Assists in the development of programs to enhance cognitive affective social and vocations development of all students.
9. Conducts individual and/or group counseling for emotionally handicapped students as needed.
10. Designs conducts reports and/or utilizes the results of research of a psychological and educational nature as needed.
11. Consults and cooperates with community health and human services agencies.
12. Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work year salary and benefits as established by the Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job shall be evaluated by the Special Education Director in accordance with the Boards policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
