Job Description
Business Insider is hiring a Production Director to join our BI Live events team to lead endtoend event production across our editorial and/or trade events portfolio.

Our BI Live events team is shaping the future of live journalism. We create impactful timely and immersive events that convene leaders and inspire actionand were looking for a Production Director who thrives on excellence and creativity.
The Role & Team:
As a Production Director you will oversee physical production vendor management runofshow and live technical direction ensuring all Business Insider Live events are produced with excellence and precision.
The Production Director reports directly to the VP BI Live and sits on the BI Live team. This position is based in our New York City HQ with an inoffice presence of at least 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead production planning and for 1520 annual live and hybrid events from concept to wrap
- Manage event production timelines budgets and vendors (A/V scenic streaming labor etc.
- Supervise onsite production teams and direct live shows ensuring seamless and contingency planning
- Partner with editorial creative partnerships and marketing teams to bring content visions to life on stage
- Own technical specs and show logistics including runofshow rehearsals and show calling
- Vet and maintain a preferred vendor network negotiate contracts and ensure all vendors meet BIs production standards
- Support venue scouting floor plans and staging collaborating closely with design and operations teams
- Implement sustainability accessibility and DEI best practices across all events
- Provide postevent analysis and production reporting to inform continuous improvement
The Ideal Candidate Has:
- Experience in live event production with a strong portfolio of business or media events
- Proven success managing complex show formats editorial programming and client activations
- Deep knowledge of A/V systems stage design lighting streaming and broadcast production
- Strong leadership and crisis management skills in fastpaced highstakes environments
- Experience managing production budgets of $250K per event
- Excellent communicator and crossfunctional collaborator
- Comfortable directing both inperson and hybrid/virtual events
- Ability to be based in NYC and in office 23 days per week
- Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings/weekends as needed
Salary & Benefits:
- Base salary: $115000 $130000 (dependent on skills experience and competencies)
- $15000 Bonus
