Job Description

Senior Building Intelligence Engineer Washington D.C.

ABOUT US:

Buildings in our beautiful cities where we live and work are producing 40 of the CO2 going into our atmosphere and contributing to climate change. We need to HEAT VENTILATE and AIR CONDITION our buildings 24/7. Most of the energy consumed in a building is for our comfort but 50 of it is wasted! This is because buildings have little to no technology to control this.

Parity is a Remote HVAC Optimization as a Service company. We remotely control and optimize HVAC systems 24/7/365 to deliver automatic energy savings and revenue to multifamily residential buildings and hotels. Using advanced algorithms Parity can predict the amount of energy needed ahead of time to operate a building to meet its residents demands and adapt the buildings systems and machinery in real time. We save our customers:

  1. Time we automate setpoint adjustments and demand response protocols. Our Pi (Parity Insights) dashboard provides early alerting services when things go down.
  2. Money Parity contractually guarantees the savings that we expect to deliver to our multifamily customers. We also provide quarterly and annual energy savings reports.
  3. CO2 Emissions we reduce a buildings emissions by optimizing its HVAC systems and reducing energy waste.

THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Building Intelligence Engineer based in the greater Washington DC area to join our team and help us ensure that all of our clients buildings are adapted to work successfully with Parity.

Leveraging your background in Engineering and knowledge of HVAC automation/control systems you will partner with our Sales & Operations teams to ensure that all buildings in our portfolio are quoted set up and optimized throughout their time with us. We are looking for someone hungry eager to learn and passionate about the energy and ClimateTech space!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as Paritys subject matter expert in the greater Washington DC area for building automation HVAC equipment operation Paritys optimization strategies and all relevant local policies regulations and incentive programs.
  • Responsible for technical signoff of deliverables from junior engineer(s) in the DC region.
  • Conduct onsite assessments of our clients buildings to prepare initial estimated savings integration costs and savings for Paritys service
  • Use Paritys modeling tools to complete an energy analysis of our clients buildings based on site assessments utility data mechanical equipment specs building drawings and current control sequences to estimate the energy savings potential from implementing Paritys Optimizer service.
  • Manage the installation and setup phase of Paritys service from start to finish to ensure projects are completed on schedule and budget while keeping clients updated on progress throughout the length of each project
  • Ensure that the applicable specifications and standards are applied throughout manufacturing process and mechanical systems delivery to the Project
  • Ensure accurate communication and between Paritys software platform and field controllers in clients buildings along with testing control sequence(s) with support from Paritys programming team to reduce energy waste
  • Complete final commissioning and sign off of systems to ensure that Paritys Service Delivery Team the Client and incentive program requirements are met
  • Support the sales team by providing them with market details contacts and help them develop proposals
  • Manage incentive application and procurement process on behalf of Parity
  • Develop and maintain understanding of local incentive landscape including determining eligible incentives and relevant requirements for Parity service
  • Support Partys service delivery team as a local technical resource as needed for buildings that are live in the Parity system
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local electrical mechanical and controls contractors
  • Help to optimize existing systems and process to best serve the MarylandDCNorthern Virginia market
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Washington DCs and Marylands Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) and other relevant local policies regulations and trends

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An academic background in Engineering with a passion for HVAC building automation or mechanical/electrical engineering
  • 510 years experience working in at least one of the following areas:
    • MEP Engineering
    • Controls/Building Automation
    • Energy auditing and/or energy services
  • Familiarity working with energy incentive programs
  • Ability to travel to client sites within the greater DC metro area.
  • You are eager to grow learn and tackle new opportunities in a fastgrowing startup environment
  • You are a quick learner who only needs to be shown something once before doing it yourself and then going back to improve the process
  • You constantly seek efficiency and optimization of processes and procedures; you look for gaps and work to fill them
  • Preference will be given to candidates with any of the following additional qualifications:
    • Experience managing installation/retrofit projects
    • Experience working with building automation systems
    • Experience with Niagara Tridium products and applications
