Under general supervision the Patient Services Coordinator (PSC) I for the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle and Podiatry Services will be responsible for front desk duties/functions in our fast paced outpatient clinic.

Front Desk Responsibilities 50)The PSC I is responsible for greeting patients as they arrive for appointments as well as completing patient checkin and checkout processes in a timely manner.
Specific tasks include:
Verifies patient identity upon patient initial check in by using two patient identifiers
Ensures registration is updated as needed & verifies radiology orders at time of checkin
Ensures Patient Privacy rights are given to patients attestation forms are signed and sent to medical records & flagged in IDX & EPIC Checks in patients verifying demographic financial and clinical information Collects patient copays
Confirms appointment time and confirms accuracy of the related computer printouts and/or requisition
Uses Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) related software and PCIS to accurately verify patient registration and insurance information
Provides cross coverage
Phone Calls Management/Customer Service 40
The PSC I works together with colleagues to manage incoming referral requests patient phone calls and appointment reminders.
Specific tasks include:
Manages incoming referrals through the referral management system
Schedules patient appointments and calls to remind patients of their appointments
Provides backup phone coverage to manage incoming patient call volume
Utilizes triage protocol to assign patients to appropriate providers Practice
Responsibilities 10 Attends weekly staff meetings Provides information to patients visitors and Hospital personnel observing Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures
Maintains a clean and professional looking frontdesk workspace
Performs all other duties that are practice specific and are appropriate to this level of position; this may include projects as assigned
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Can work well as a team player
Maintains professionalism at all times Knowledge of basic word processing packages
Basic computer skills necessary to use computerized scheduling/billing systems
Typing and/or word processing speed approximately 4550 WPM Good grammar and spelling
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of internal and/or external customers
Good organizational skills required to handle multiple tasks in busy environment
Ability to problem solve and adapt to flexible work hours in a variety of divisions
Ability to maintain customer service standards and work with minimal supervision Is able to function efficiently in a busy clinic setting Adheres to institutional & departmental procedures & codes of conduct
