Job Description

POSITION: GROUNDS/ MAINTENANCE Temp for the remainder of theschool year.

*Flexible Hours available during day shift*

REPORTS TO: Maintenance/Custodial Director

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance/Custodial Director; this position requires manual work relating to maintaining the school districts facilities and grounds. This position requires knowledge and skills in electrical plumbing carpentry and grounds care. Performs a variety of skilled task to create and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for students staff parents and the general public. Must have the ability to be flexible to changing job situations in a cooperative manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement and assist with all repairs.
  • Ability to perform electrical repairs change ballast switches and fixtures.
  • Ability to perform plumbing repairs unclog drains repair or replace fixtures.
  • Ability to perform carpentry frame walls hang doors finish work and cabinetry.
  • Ability to operate and repair district irrigation pumps and systems.
  • Perform pruning on shrubbery and trees.
  • Participates in control
  • Ability to operate and maintain Maintenance/Grounds equipment lifts mowers snow plows tractors and other misc. equipment.
  • Ability to operate snow removal equipment during winter months.
  • Ability to work various shifts hours to complete the task. (snow removal irrigation emergencies etc.
  • Ability to perform sanitary custodial and housekeeping tasks as required.
  • Must be able to work independently when necessary.
  • Must be able to take directions follow orders and be punctual.
  • Must exhibit the ability attitude and appearance that will withstand constant public scrutiny.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have knowledge and skills to perform various electrical plumbing carpentry grounds care tasks and the equipment used in maintaining the lawns and the building facilities.
  • Must be willing to accept direction from Maintenance/Custodial Director and Grounds Forman and be able to perform above assignments with minimum amount of supervision.
  • Ability to interact positively and confidently with students staff and the general public.
  • Remains flexible under changing needs and circumstances; effectively communicates and cooperates with custodial personnel and building staff to meet needs and accomplish workrelated task.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders (step ladders or extension ladders to a height of 40 feet or the use of the district lifts).
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs. in weight.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to personally provide footwear clothing and foul weather gear
  • Model appropriate and cooperative behavior including protecting confidential information consistent with the District ethical guidelines
  • Must have excellent moral character and be able to get along with children and adults.
  • Must have and maintain a neat and clean personal appearance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold or willing to obtain Washington State Public Applicator license.
  • Successful WSP and FBI fingerprint/background check and preemployment drug test.
  • Valid Washington State Drivers License and proof of a safe driving record demonstrated by a current 5 year drivers extract.
  • Completion submission and positive results from Washington State Sexual Misconduct Disclosure
  • Authorization and Release of Information form relating to prior employment
  • This position may require a skills assessment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Hours may vary depending on district needs. Requires sitting turning lifting pulling and pushing objects using proper lifting pulling and pushing techniques weighing 50 lbs. Must be able to lift 50 lbs from floor to chest. Must be able to use fingers hands arms legs vision hearing sit or stand for prolonged period of time. Routinely requires dexterity and balance. Requires driving in normal and adverse weather conditions. May be exposed to inclement weather. May be required to drive in congested areas for extended periods. Must be able to bend stretch twist walk reach carry push stoop crouch and hear. Far and near visual acuity depth perception. Requires mental concentration under various traffic and road conditions. i.e. parking lot snow removal. Requires occasional work on evenings and weekends. Exposures will include exposure to dust fumes infectious diseases occasional noise and various road and traffic conditions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The current opening will be an hourly classified nonrepresented.
