Job Description

Lower Merion High Schoolis looking for a Drama Coordinator.

Position Overview: The Drama Coordinator is a dynamic and multifaceted role responsible for coordinating all aspects of the schools drama program including three major productions per year. This individual will work closely with student leadership assistant coaches the athletic and activities office as well as the Drama Booster Club to ensure smooth operation of each show. The Drama Coordinator will be an advocate for students provide problemsolving support and address any concerns from students and parents while managing contracts schedules and space usage.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Coordination:
    • Oversee the planning and of three major drama productions per year ensuring all logistics and creative elements are wellcoordinated.
    • Collaborate with student leadership to support production teams including actors technicians and stagehands.
    • Work with assistant coaches and the athletic and activities office to align schedules ensure resource availability and minimize scheduling conflicts.
  2. Contract Management:
    • Handle contracts for performers guest directors choreographers and other external talent or vendors.
    • Ensure contracts are properly negotiated signed and fulfilled including managing payment schedules and deliverables.
  3. Booster Club Liaison:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for the Drama Booster Club working to maintain a collaborative relationship between the school and parents.
    • Support the Booster Club in fundraising efforts program development and any additional resources needed for productions.
  4. Scheduling & Space Management:
    • Coordinate and schedule all rehearsal spaces performance venues and associated rooms to ensure effective use of facilities.
    • Maintain clear communication with the school administration regarding space availability and scheduling adjustments.
  5. Student Advocacy & Support:
    • Advocate for students within the drama program ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
    • Address student concerns providing guidance and support as necessary throughout the rehearsal and production processes.
  6. ProblemSolving & Issue Resolution:
    • Handle and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during rehearsals performances or with parents and staff.
    • Ensure any problems are addressed in a timely and professional manner to maintain a positive and productive environment for all involved.
  7. Communication:
    • Serve as a point of communication between students parents staff and administration regarding the drama program.
    • Keep all stakeholders informed about important dates rehearsal schedules performance expectations and any other relevant updates.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in theater coordination production management or educational theater is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students parents faculty and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to solve problems and handle conflict with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Passion for student advocacy and fostering a positive inclusive environment for all participants.
