Job Description

AMERIND is a federally chartered tribally owned corporation formed under Section 17 of the Indian Reorganization Act 25 U.S.C. 5124 by its Members the governmental units of federally recognized Tribal Nations that administer federally funded housing programs for American Indian and Alaska Native families. AMERIND has the operating authority to work with Tribal Governments Enterprises and Citizens for Property and Liability Workers Compensation Homeowners and Renters Employee Benefits coverage Fleet Auto coverage and Critical Infrastructure development.

Job Summary
Plans coordinates and executes a variety of marketing and communications functions relating to AMERINDs internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to developing and managing content supporting graphic design needs and overseeing project management and planning in conjunction with AMERINDs management and marketing agency to advance organizational goals and strategic priorities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plans and manages projects by developing action plans establishing timelines securing approvals and overseeing budgets in coordination with AMERINDs management team and marketing agency.
  • Researches and writes content in both shortform and longform for both digital and print mediums including social media press releases flyers and other promotional items annual report and twiceyearly magazine.
  • Updates and edits existing graphic design files (e.g. flyers postcards social media graphics onepagers magazine etc. using Adobe Creative Suite software in coordination with AMERINDs marketing agency.
  • Provides media relations services including news releases news conferences pitching story ideas and building positive relations with reporters editors bloggers & influencers.
  • Assists event specialist and/or outsourced event contractor in coordinating conferences meetings trade shows and other special events.
  • Produces various mediums of communication materials for AMERIND events with regular reminders to encourage participation.
  • Plans and coordinates administrative assignments and special projects within and/or across operating units.
  • Collaborates with outsourced marketing firm to develop branding messages and assists with marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborates with business development team to identify target customers and markets.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on outgoing communications such as press releases social media post and executive level speeches and talking points.
  • Develops and prepares special management studies surveys statistics and a variety of other reports.
  • Coordinates with outsourced marketing firm to design and prepare various marketing materials to include savethedate cards and flyers for external AMERIND events.
  • Develop comprehensive strategic communications plans to boost organization awareness and impact.
  • Plan execute and monitor messaging campaigns across various channels. Promotes external AMERIND information on company website and/or social media platforms.
  • Maintains the organizations corporate brand image and messaging. Brand consistency at all company events using logos and signs and other marketing collateral.
  • Determines mediums and platforms to promote and advertise AMERIND events.
  • Responsible for creating and distributing internal/external communication.
  • Makes presentations to various groups including prospects members and customers at conferences or business meetings as needed.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as answering phones maintaining records and handling event questions.
  • Represents AMERIND at local and national trade shows regional member meetings and/or housing fairs to generate leads for all products and to build relationships to promote AMERIND brand and products as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of new technologies and principles by conducting research attending seminars educational workshops classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
  • Participates in crossfunctional team process improvement projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in communications journalism digital media marketing public relations or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years progressive experience in communications marketing or business required.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license.
  • Travel required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation. No felony theft or fraud convictions.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
  • New employees must complete the Associate in Insurance (AINS) designation within six months from the end of the 90day evaluation period in order to be eligible for advancement and incentive compensation.
  • For continued employment employees must complete an elective course and six hours of professional development within 12 months after the end of the 90day evaluation period.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public relations promotions and marketing in a customer serviceoriented environment.
  • Knowledge of computer utilization in marketing/business operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing with staff and the general public.
  • Ability to understand AMERINDs audience and interest.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
  • Ability to create compose and edit written materials.
  • Ability to act with integrity professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines including in a Windows environment specifically Word Excel Access and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).
  • Skill in graphic design preferred with competency in using InDesign Photoshop and other software programs in the Adobe Creative Suite .
  • Skill in managing website content preferably familiarity in using WordPress CMS.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Typical business office setting with moderate noise level.
  • Nonoffice environment may be encountered for offsite presentations and support of company activities.
  • Must be able to sit for work at a computer for more than 4 hours per day.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to use hands for dexterity of motion and reach with hands and arms. Extensive use of computer keyboards.
  • Must have visual acuity to distinguish colors images and depth perception.
  • Frequently required to talk and hear.
  • Must have ability to occasionally lift 25 lbs.
Physical Exam
Employee is required to successfully pass an annual physical exam to certify that the incumbent is capable of performing the physical demands of the job as described above.
Hiring of AMERIND employees is subject to Section 7(b) of the Indian SelfDetermination Act 25 U.S.C. 5307(b) which requires that to the greatest extent feasible preference and opportunities for training and employment shall be given to Native Americans and Alaska Natives.
