Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The successful candidate must have a minimum of one year of front office experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred.
  • Previous experience in collecting money is preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of insurance rules and regulations medical terminology HIPAA Guidelines and computer scheduling systems.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for preparing new patient paperwork identifying and collecting copayments coinsurances and pastdue account balances.
  • Evaluates patient financial status and establishes payment plans based upon authority levels.
  • Screens upcoming and followup appointments for required referrals and/or authorizations; ensures all required referrals and/or authorizations are scanned into the patients chart and attached to the correct appointment(s).
  • Responsible for maintaining a secure and accurate cash drawer ensuring the cash box always has the prescribed amount. Responsible for daily balancing of cash drawer and closing batch.
  • Maintains strictest patient confidentiality.

The Front Office Representative is responsible for greeting and acknowledging all new and returning patients.
