GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position performs technical masterlevel and supervisory work in heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration; including new construction remodeling repair and preventative maintenance of systems in stateowned or leased buildings especially those requiring heating and cooling 24/7 for occupancy thereby providing a safe wellmaintained and comfortable environment for the elected officials state employees visitors and general public in the Capitol Complex area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.- This position performs all the duties of the HVAC Specialist.
- Installs adjusts troubleshoots and maintains electrical direct digital controls and electronic/pneumatic/mechanical temperature control devices on HVAC/R systems.
- Conducts routine maintenance on HVAC/R equipment.
- Provides oversight on HVAC/R projects performed by outside contractors for code compliance payments design and installation.
- Works with professional engineers on project design and construction.
- Designs and conducts cost estimates for installing environmental control units and facility support systems that need new systems or replacement systems.
- Manages the procurement and use of ozonedepleting substances.
- Conducts efficiency analysis on HVAC systems and proposes energysaving modifications.
- Utilizes infrared imaging for predictive maintenance.
- Installs and maintains various mechanical equipment.
- Performs seasonal startup and shutdown of heating and airconditioning plants and other related equipment.
- Works around Hazardous and/or toxic materials.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be givento those applicants with HVAC Journeyman or equivalent technician license or an EPA license.
KNOWLEDGE:- Knowledge of refrigeration cycle refrigerants air conditioning and related air handling equipment.
- Knowledge of acceptable practices methods and tools used in installing maintaining and repairing HVACR Equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Bachelors DegreeExperience:01 year of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC SpecialistOREducation & ExperienceSubstitution:34 years of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) with acquired knowledge at the level of an HVAC SpecialistCertificates Licenses Registrations:Agency may require an EPA License.Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to work in tight confined spaces
- Ability to work comfortably at a variety of heights
- Ability to walk great distances throughout the facility
NOTES:- FLSA: NonExempt hourly
- Employment is subject to the successful applicant passing a background check
