AWS Security is the group for you! We are responsible for the protection of customer and corporate data while being connected to all parts of Amazons business and its massive worldwide serviceoriented architecture. Whether youre passionate about building highly scalable and reliable systems in the cloud or a software developer who likes to solve interesting and complex business problems AWS Security is the place for you.
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to design and build large scale highly impactful Permissions and Access Management Systems with companywide reach. There is ample opportunity to innovate and deliver high impact will collaborate with the leadership team to drive key engineering and business decisions that will influence the Amazon developer experience. You will contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle across the entire Amazon development community including design implementation documentation deployment and operations across multiple products.
Successful candidates for this position will have strong software engineering fundamentals (objectoriented design algorithms and data structures) and a good grasp of advanced systems concepts and design. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills be selfdriven and deliver high results in a fast paced environment. They need to really enjoy working closely with their peers within a group of very talented engineers.
Key job responsibilities
A typical day in this role might involve:
Showcasing innovative customer experiences that delight users through interactive demos. Analyzing pain points and collaborating with UX designers to translate customer needs into impactful product features.
Developing datadriven strategies to identify and reach target customer segments. Leveraging market insights and competitive intelligence to uncover new business opportunities. Working crossfunctionally to design and execute effective customer acquisition campaigns.
Tackling ambiguous largescale challenges with a systematic creative approach. Designing and implementing stateoftheart technical solutions to complex business problems. Continuously learning and adopting best practices to drive engineering and operational excellence.
Providing thoughtful technical guidance to the team and establishing the longterm engineering vision. Championing software engineering best practices to ensure highquality deliverables. Mentoring and empowering team members to grow their skills and problemsolving abilities.
Collaborating on the design implementation and deployment of secure scalable internetscale systems. Working crossfunctionally with engineers designers product managers and data scientists to deliver impactful projects. Identifying and implementing the most effective patterns and methods for performance scalability and architecture.
The ideal candidate will have strong creative problemsolving skills for ambiguous challenges exceptional customer focus and user experience design technical depth to architect highperforming distributed systems the ability to mentor crossfunctional teams and excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
