Job Description

Providence Hall is a charter school located in Herriman UT. Central to the schools mission is teaching students to think critically communicate effectively and act responsibly. Students at the high school engage in classes that prepare them for college and career readiness through the AP scholars program concurrent enrollment and CTE.

Providence Hall seeks a highly skilled and enthusiastic high school 9th12th) special education teacher for the 2526 school year who supports the schools values of inclusive education academic excellence and inquirybased learning to join our team. As a high school 9th12th) special education teacher your case load maxes out at 33 and you manage all aspects of our special education students to include their learning needs as well as their physical facilities and behaviors.


Schedule:

  • 8 hours/day on scheduled teaching/working days
  • The 57 days before the scheduled start date of the school year
  • ParentTeacher Conferences
  • Department building and LEA professional development trainings and meetings

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging high school level lessons in all core subjects that align with the curriculum and educational standards and also with IEPS.
  • Independently with confidence accuracy and skill develop implement assess and revise IEPs as well as schedule and direct IEP meetings with teams in a positive and collaborative manner within dates in compliance with federal rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers parents/guardians paraeducators and other special educators/related service providers (SLP OT nurse etc. to implement IEPs programs and classes for each student.
  • Administer diagnostic assessments use databased decisions to determine goals and monitor progress proctor standardized tests and complete assigned initial/reevaluation testing in accordance with federal rules and regulations and best practice.
  • Support general education teachers through modeling; implementing specialized instruction and inclusive practices for students with a range of disabilities; providing assistance developing and adapting curriculum materials and educational practices to meet the needs of students and teachers; teaching basic skills such as social skills adaptive skills life skills and behavior management; and acting as an informational liaison for inclusion as appropriate.
  • Work with paraprofessionals in support of special education student needs.
  • As needed develop behavior plans (FUBAs/BIPs).
  • Establish effective communication channels with students parents/guardians and colleagues to ensure a collaborative learning community.
  • Actively participate in department grade level campus and LEA meetings professional developments and other trainings.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current valid Utah teaching license (in CACTUS) in Special Education with Mild/Moderate Disabilities Endorsement (minimum).
  • Strong knowledge of Utah state standards Utah special education policies and procedures and best instructional pedagogy practices.
  • Proven classroom experience or completion of student teaching working with students who have a range of learning mental emotional and physical disabilities at the secondary level.
  • High level organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multitask easily.
  • Positive interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in highstress situations.
  • Creative analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Professional communication skills including but not limited to: excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident articulate and professional speaking abilities; empathetic listening; and persuasive speaking.
  • Experience with Skyward.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace and its collaboration tools.
  • Capacity to perform all the responsibilities listed in this posting.
  • Must pass a comprehensive check of education verification and professional references as a condition of employment.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
