The Team
Across our work in Science Education and within our communities we pair technology with grantmaking impact investing and collaboration to help accelerate the pace of progress toward our mission. Our Central Operations & Partners team provides the support needed to push this work forward.
Central Operations & Partners consists of our Brand & Communications Community Facilities Finance Infrastructure/IT Operations/Business Systems Initiative Operations People Real Estate/Workplace/Facilities/Security Research & Learning and Ventures teams. These teams provide the essential operations services and strategies needed to support CZIs progress toward achieving its mission to build a better future for everyone.
The Opportunity
CZI is seeking a creative individual passionate about social media content creation and storytelling to join our Social & Digital Marketing team as a Social Video Producer. This role will be responsible for producing socialfirst content with a primary focus on video but also including GIFs memes audio and other multimedia content. The position requires a strong understanding of current social media trends best practices and audience engagement strategies along with the ability to work nimbly producing highquality content with quick turnarounds.
The ideal candidate will be skilled in all stages of the production process effectively conveying our work across science and technology through compelling visual storytelling tailored to a range of audiences.
This role sits within the Brand and Communications team and reports to CZIs Social & Digital Marketing Director. In this role you will collaborate closely with social media managers digital marketers and other stakeholders across the organization to execute storytelling opportunities across our institutes and programs.
What Youll Do
- Brainstorm and create engaging content for our social media platforms including videos audio memes GIFs and other visual assets.
- Write video scripts and develop storyboards that resonate with target audiences and drive engagement.
- Film and edit socialfirst videos incorporating graphics music text overlays and other platformspecific elements.
- Collaborate with social media managers brand and communications team members and other stakeholders to align content with broader communications objectives.
- Produce video content for advertising campaigns including for social platforms and preroll.
- Stay up to date with the latest social media trends tools and best practices to ensure content remains relevant.
- Tailor content for different social media platformsincluding but not limited to Instagram Threads Facebook X (formerly Twitter) LinkedIn and YouTube Shortsoptimizing for format tone and audience.
- Experiment with new formats techniques and trends to keep content fresh innovative and relatable.
- Monitor video content performance and provide insights and recommendations for future improvements.
- Travel to events meetings or onlocation production shoots as needed.
- Comfort in front of the camera and/or experience with voiceovers is a plus.
What Youll Bring
- At least 5 years of experience
- A deep passion for social media! You spend your time scrolling analyzing audience behaviors and thinking critically about how content is crafted and consumed.
- Proven experience creating socialfirst video and multimedia content with a varied and dynamic portfolio of past work.
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to develop compelling scripts and storyboards.
- Proficiency in video editing software and creative tools such as Canva CapCut Adobe Creative Suite Final Cut Pro or similar as well as experience with inapp editing tools on various social platforms.
- Indepth knowledge of social media platforms their best practices asset specifications and audience engagement strategies.
- A creative and innovative mindset with the ability to inject humor and relatability into content.
- Experience working with subject matter experts and leadership teams including in highpressure or rapidturnaround situations.
- Ability to work independently manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fastpaced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail particularly in copywriting and captions.
- A strong grasp of video advertising strategies and how to use video to advance messaging goals.
- Ability to leverage both data and intuition to inform content strategy.
- Familiarity with accessibility best practicesor a willingness to learn.
- Enthusiasm for CZIs mission particularly in AIdriven research and technology. Previous experience creating socialfirst video content on complex science topics is a plus.
- A collaborative mindset adaptability and the ability to navigate complexity effectively.
Compensation
The Redwood City CA base pay range for this role is $106000 $160000. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on jobrelated skills and experience as evaluated throughout the interview process.
