Successful applicants may be eligible to receive a onetime signing bonus of $5000 and a relocation allowance of up to $2500 with receipts. In turn a return of service will be required for 2 years.

Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) provides audiology services to Nova Scotians of all ages and speechlanguage pathology services to preschool children and adults. HSNS is funded by the NS Government to deliver integrated and standardized provincial services across 37 clinical sites located in 26 communities. Nationally certified Audiologists and SpeechLanguage Pathologists with support from Communication Disorder Technicians and Administrative Support Professionals provide core services (prevention diagnosis and treatment) develop and monitor provincial clinical standards and collaborate with partners to deliver a number of special programs (e.g. Autism Stroke Cochlear Implant). Established in 1963 HSNS works to prevent and reduce the impact of communication disorders for Nova Scotians.

We are accepting applications for a regular fulltime 1.0 FTE) position of SpeechLanguage Pathologist within the HSNS Preschool Accessibility Innovations Project. This position will provide virtual in person and/or group speechlanguage services within the Eastern Zone. The home base is Sydney Health Park. The successful candidate reports to the assigned Manager and will have a flexible schedule to allow evening and/or weekend services as required.

Requirements:

• Masters Degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology
• Nova Scotia College of Audiologists & SpeechLanguage Pathologists (NSCASLP) licensure or eligible for licensure
• Effective communication skills including proficiency in written and spoken English. If English is not your first language further documents will be required.
• Flexibility in work schedule to provide evening/weekend services
• Flexibility to travel on occasion to attend continuing education events and/or meetings
• Candidates will have to demonstrate current immunization and/or boosters at the end of the probationary period
• Experience with provision of preschool speech and language assessment and treatment
• Familiarity with a variety of service delivery options for pediatric caseloads
• Demonstrated commitment to familycentered care
• Flexibility in work schedule to support outreach/parachute services
• Flexibility to travel throughout NS on a regular basis
• Valid Nova Scotia drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle
• Maintain Hanen membership as appropriate to caseload

Assets:

• Experience providing caregiver training and/or coaching
• Experience with provision of services via telepractice
• Experience working with interprofessional clinical teams and/or working with supportive personnel
• Ability to communicate in multiple languages in a clinical setting
• Experience with offsite/homebased service delivery model
• Experience in provision of outreach clinics
• Lived experience with a communication difference
