St. Mary Catholic School in Royal Oak is searching for TWO knowledgeable enthusiastic and nurturinglongterm substitute teachers for the maternity leave of both of our second grade teachers.
Positions are fulltime SUBSTITUTE teacher positions and do NOT include healthcare benefits.
Paid Time Off is available for both of these positions based on the number of weeks that you are scheduled to teach.
Positions are anticipated to begin at the beginning of theschool year (August 2025.
One position is expected to end on or around November 3rd.
One position is expected to end on or around November 27th.
Preference given to individuals with valid teaching certificates but candidates with a minimum of 60 college credits AND successful experiences working with children will be considered.
Candidates will be contacted for interviews as resumes are received.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Official transcripts or verification of degree
- Resum listing experience in education/childcare/other work with children
- Required prior to working with students: fingerprinting background check and completion of Protecting Gods Children training.
Primary Performance Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering instruction based on Archdiocese of Detroit learning standards.
- Assessing and grading student work.
- Providing appropriate classroom management techniques to ensure an environment of learning and Catholic values.

All teachers in the Archdiocese of Detroit Catholic Schools shall be certified and/or approved for teaching by the Michigan Department of Education. All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement(s) for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach. All teachers who are catechists (teachers of religion) must be certified by the Archdiocese of Detroit.
