The Champaign County States Attorneys Office is seeking applicants for an entry level Assistant States Attorney position. Preferred applicants must be currently licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois with previous professional experience and demonstrated professional interest and history in prosecution litigation criminal law social services or related fields. Recent graduates awaiting bar exam results will be considered with preference to those who have had some experience through internships or other professional opportunities. Preferred applicants must be skilled in trial advocacy communication organization and technology demonstrate good judgement and the ability to make decisions and be able to professionally represent the office in court and with the public. This includes but is not limited to exercising primary responsibility for the preparation of jury and bench trials motion practice and plea negotiations in traffic and misdemeanor criminal matters and working cooperatively with victim advocates and with law enforcement. Other duties may be assigned by the States Attorney. The position will remain open until filled. Salary range $60000 to $75000 based on experience.
