WHAT YOULL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean safe and sanitary environment within the plant focusing on production areas equipment and utilities. This role involves handling and using industrial chemicals ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards and assisting in the maintenance and operation of sanitation systems and utilities. The Sanitation Specialist will also support plant operations by ensuring sanitation tasks are performed efficiently and safely.
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitation of plant facilities production areas and equipment ensuring that all sanitation tasks are completed in accordance with company policies health regulations and safety standards.
- Safely handle mix and apply chemicals used in cleaning and sanitation processes. Ensure proper storage disposal and usage of chemicals in compliance with safety protocols material safety data sheets (SDS) and environmental regulations. Compliance with the company Food Safety program and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is a must.
- Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting sanitation equipment including pressure washers floor scrubbers including and no limited to disassemble or adjust belts and drain systems. Monitor and maintain utilities related to sanitation (e.g. water supply waste disposal drainage systems).
- Follow all safety guidelines when working with chemicals machinery and cleaning agents. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and plantspecific safety protocols. Conduct routine checks and documentation to ensure that all safety and sanitation standards are met.
- Assist in routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment breakdowns. This includes inspecting and cleaning machinery and sanitation systems and replacing parts as needed.
- Safely handle and dispose of hazardous and nonhazardous waste according to company policies and environmental guidelines. This includes ensuring proper waste segregation and disposal of chemical containers used filters and other materials.
- Track and maintain sanitation supplies including chemicals cleaning agents and tools. Reorder supplies as necessary to ensure no disruption to sanitation operations. Keep the tools and utensils in good use and report any damaged ones to management for replacement.
- Keep detailed records of sanitation activities chemicals used equipment maintenance and safety checks. Report any safety hazards equipment malfunctions or chemical handling issues to supervisors immediately.
- Work closely with maintenance production and safety teams to coordinate sanitation efforts schedule deep cleans and respond to urgent sanitation needs. Communicate effectively to ensure all tasks are completed on time.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to chemical spills or other sanitationrelated emergencies following established procedures to minimize risks and ensure safety.
- Other assigned duties and/or projects to support business needs.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School/GED or one to two years experience in related field or combination of both education and experience
- Must be able to perform all job functions safely.
- Six months to one year experience in a production facility
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos.
- Must have great communication skills ability to communicate effectively in English bilingual preferred.
- Prior experience working with industrial chemicals cleaning agents and sanitation equipment is required.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards hazardous chemical handling and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions pay attention to detail and perform physical tasks in a fastpaced environment.
- Strong problemsolving skills especially related to equipment maintenance and sanitation issues.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including weekends holidays and overtime as needed.
- Must be punctual have excellent attendance record and be able to cooperate with others.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in production maintenance or equivalent combination of education/related experience and/or training.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Mechanically inclined
- Forklift Certified
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Environmental exposure cold/wet conditions 40 or below).
- Environmental exposure hot/humid conditions 95 or above).
- Material exposure moving mechanical parts
- Occasional exposure to fumes airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals
- Ability to lift push pull and/or carry from 5055 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in an upright position walking on both even and uneven surfaces
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders scaffolding using 3point contact on a regular basis
- Ability to stoop crouch and kneel on a regular basis
- Ability to use hands and arms to grasp manipulate and handle objects in one position for an extended period of time.
- Ability to successfully wear a full face and half face respirator mask for extended periods of time
HOURS & WORKDAYS:
3rd Shift 11:30 PM to 8:00 AM; Overtime Weekends and Holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may be mandatory depending on department/business needs as well.
