Job Description

McCormick & Company Inc. a global leader in the spice flavor and seasonings industry is seeking a fulltime Department Manager Warehouse. This new hire will work in the Hunt Valley Plant located inHunt Valley MD. The Department Manager Warehousewill report to a Materials Manager II.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Materials Manager II the Warehouse Manager provides direction and has ownership for warehousing palletizing and/or distribution activities. As a member of the department Leadership Team requires comprehensive understanding of the concepts and principles within their own functional area and also requires basic knowledge of these elements in other relevant functional areas in order to participate in the resolution of issues that have an impact beyond the area or impact multiple areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead warehouse operations including but not limited to uninterrupted delivery of goods to/from production lines and manufacturing areas the receipt of inbound materials from vendor and other sites the deployment and shipment of finished good material and raw materials to other McCormick sites and the leadership of multiple contracts/leases including offsite store transportation and jockey services and leased offsite lots.
  • Utilizes theHigh Performance Organization Systems to empower and develop their teams using established HPO systems core beliefs guiding principles and attributes. Leads team by applying situational leadership coaching facilitation presentation role playing (feedback & conflict management) skills and leveraging established processes such as Fitforuse Daily Management Journey to Excellence and Process Reliability.
  • Creates a vision for theteam that is in alignment with McCormick and the Plant/DC. Removes barriers and obstacles to team performance. Demonstrates a sense of urgency and tenacity to resolve problems and implement process improvements. Leads failure analysis when required for failures . Participates in planning for warehouse team improvements.
  • Performs evaluations and creates development/training plans for individuals within the team and manages employee relations. Actively uses PDPs to document and facilitate improvement/recognition discussions. Manages compensation process for team and recommends wage increases for high performers (pay for performance).
  • Develops and ensures all procedures and best practices are documented and creates a atmosphere of 100 compliance to operational processes and procedures and continuous improvement using problem solving methodologies and established principals including GMPs and other guidelines to ensure safety and sanitation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Logistics or Purchasing preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 710 years functional/leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated significant and relevant skills and results in functional area.
  • Strong leadership experience with demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and people.
  • The job requires a detailed understanding of how all areas of the plant interact to contribute to the business.
  • Requires a general understanding of the industry.
  • Requires basic commercial awareness as it relates to competition but only requires limited understanding of the latest developments in the industry.
  • Superior understanding of planning systems SAP purchasing protocol MHPS planning/inventory theories.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence others.
  • Leadership of exempt Team Managers or equivalent to achieve common objectives.
  • May interface with external parties as representative of the plant/facility.
  • Strong crossfunctional strategic leadership communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to translate strategy into actionable information in small or large groups in a clear concise and professional manner.
  • Ability to influence upwards.
  • Interact with materials management inventory control customer service master data transportation and other departments as needed.
  • Frequent communication with outside customers and suppliers internal sales and production.
