QUALIFICATIONS:

MBA MPH or comparable level degree strongly preferred.

10 plus years in progressively advancing leadership roles and management experience; preferably in health care setting.

Experience leading a community based organization is strongly preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Reports to the Vice President Community Health and Health Equity at Brigham and Womens Hospital and the Brookside Community Health Center Community Advisory Board. The next Executive Director will promote and champion the Brookside mission to provide high quality comprehensive multidisciplinary familyoriented care to those who live and work in Jamaica Plain and the city of Boston regardless of ability to pay.

Brookside Community Health Center (BCHC) located in Jamaica Plain and licensed by Brigham and Womens Hospital (BWH) serves a diverse population of over 13000 individual patients and provides 70000 clinical visits annually across the following clinical departments: adult and pediatric medicine womens health behavioral health dental and WIC/nutrition.

The Executive Director leads the team of directors of BCHCs clinical departments and administrative managers. She/he will provide strategic operational and administrative leadership to the health center and manage the 28000 sq. ft. facility oversee the capital planning process and ensure excellent and optimal operations across the site. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to ensure a highly functional collaborative culture across all clinical disciplines and among clinicians and administrators. She/he will have a managerial style that is teamfocused accessible and inspire excellence and foster trust.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead team including the directors of clinical care and administrators to ensure the highest standard of clinical care for all patients; provide leadership to the management team to drive excellence and optimal operations of BCHC; coordinate planning with BWH leadership and Community Advisory Board; ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and rules of accreditation; coordinate resources evaluate performance and support innovation to meet the needs of BCHCs patients and community.

Develop implement and monitor in collaboration with BWH leadership and the Community Advisory Board a longterm strategy that advances the mission vision and values of BCHC.

oEstablish programmatic and business objectives and develop ongoing assessments of performance in collaboration with the senior clinical and administrative management team.

Provide administrative and operational leadership and support Brooksides senior team in managing the daytoday operations of BCHC.

oEstablish organizational structure policies and procedures; ensuring high quality cost effective and patient centered care.

oOversee all departments ensuring compliance with established policies.

oOversee clinical program directors program managers and operations staff.

oEnsure high standards of safety security infection control and cleanliness.

Demonstrate successful leadership guiding the BCHC team to effectively achieve their goals.

oHire experienced management staff to run clinical and nonclinical department and operations.

oMaintain a climate that attracts retains and motivates high functioning and top quality talent.

oRecruit and retain a staff that is reflective of the patient population in its diversity and language ability.

Oversee BCHC clinical programs in close collaboration with clinical administration personnel.

oOversee development of clinical program goals. Monitors clinical programs.

oEncourage integration of clinical services for a BCHCwide focus of practice and support innovative programs to meet the needs of BCHC patients and families

oOversee maintenance of clinical and legal standards ensuring adherence to all regulatory and oversight requirements.

oDevelop and implement marketing strategies for services to ensure access.

Prepare annual operating budget; monitor budget to ensure that revenue and operating costs remain within established fiscal parameters.

oPrepare and present financial reports to BWH Community Board regulatory agencies and funders

o Manage grants and contracts to ensure compliance with requirements

Oversee BCHC quality improvement and quality assurance programs and compliance

oPossess/develop knowledge of pertinent laws regulations and policies affecting BCHC.

oOversee clinical and administration quality assurance and performance improvement programs.

oEnsure compliance to all applicable regulatory requirements city state and federal as well as The Joint Commission and others.

oOversee the documentation and management of patient complaints and incident/accident reporting ensuring resolution and feedback to Brigham leadership and Community Board as needed.

Develop positive appropriate and highly effective community relationships.

oEncourage communication and develop linkages with local and citywide community agencies.

oRepresent BCHC through networks within city state and federal agencies.

Ensure strong working relationships with colleagues at BWH to support the mutual mission of providing high quality care to our patients family and community.

oEncourage broad based interaction between BCHC staff and other BWH staff when appropriate

oEffectively coordinate services between BCHC and BWH to meet patients needs.

Provide Community Advisory Board with BCHC status reports; solicit advice input and recommendations as appropriate.

oIdentify understand and meet the unique needs of BCHC patients and community stakeholders.
