Position Summary
Position: The Department of Mathematics at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for an openrank 10month Lecturertrack position beginning Fall 2025. The appointment will be as a Lecturer or a Senior Lecturer depending on experience. The initial appointment is for three years. There is a promotion track through the rank of Senior Lecturer followed by Teaching Professor. These positions are not eligible for tenure. The higher ranks are eligible for longterm contracts. Lecturertrack faculty receive an annual stipend for professional development. There are also opportunities to apply for paid summer teaching and curriculum development work. Lecturertrack responsibilities: Primary responsibilities will include instruction and support for instruction. Most of the instruction will be in a diverse set of introductory courses including precalculus finite mathematics and calculus. Instructional support duties will include: a regular rotation of course coordination curriculum development and supporting the professional growth of graduate and undergraduate student academic appointees. The nominal teaching load is six courses per academic year. Lecturers receive course releases for coordination and other administrative service roles. Department culture: The candidate hired to fill the position will join a dynamic team of faculty. This team has significant autonomy to reconceive our approach to introductory coursework and substantial support for curriculum revision. Instructors are supported through course coordination and course coordinators support each other through the Math General Education Committee. Our faculty also benefit from department supported opportunities for camaraderie. There is daily departmental tea as well as seasonal departmental parties and picnics.
