HamiltonWenham Regional School DistrictJob Title: District AccountantReports to: Assistant Superintendent of Finance and AdministrationSummaryThe District Accountant oversees the administration of the Districts Business Office functions ensuring compliance with financial reporting and recordkeeping requirements. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain the General Ledger including account setup receipts deposits transfers AP/payroll warrants journal entries and budget entries.Manage accounting records for federal state and local grants including reimbursement requests and Final Financial Reports.Administer 403B plans.Reconcile withholding accounts (e.g. dental health life vision insurance) and track retiree health insurance payments.Monitor the Operating Budget and create financial reports/forecasts upon request.File quarterly unemployment wage reports federal taxes and coordinate Medicaid submissions.Serve as point of contact for audits including financial statements workers compensation student activities and GASB75 OPEB valuations.Close the accounting system at fiscal yearend and complete the EndofYear Report.Assist in contract/procurement documentation when requested.Act as backup for Payroll and Accounts Payable functions.Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Administration. QualificationsEducation & Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in municipal government public schools or business. DESE Licensure as a School Business Administrator and MCPPO certification are preferred but not required. Qualified applicants should possess a bachelors degree in accounting finance business administration or related fields. Skills: Proficiency in managerial accounting payroll accounts payable and financial planning. Strong analytical skills integrity and knowledge of computerized recordkeeping systems. Experience with Tyler Technology Budget Sense is desirable.Language Skills: Ability to analyze documents write reports and communicate effectively in English.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentRegularly required to communicate effectively and work in a stationary position.Occasionally required to lift/move up to 20 pounds.Employment Terms12month position 40 hours per week.Expected Salary$70000 $110000 based on experience open to negotiation
