Job Description

We are recruiting for a Business Analyst role to assist our client in delivering successful technology and business projects.


Qualifications required:
  • Computer science information systems technology and engineering related diploma or degree.
  • TOGAF certificate or business analysis certification (i.e. IIBA AAC CBAP CBDA CCA CCBA CPOA or ECBA).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Business Analyst.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Enterprise analysis:
  • Define business needs by identifying and defining why a change to organizational systems or capabilities is required.
  • Assess the capability gaps and determine the most viable solution/approach to meet the business needs in detail to allow for definition of solution scope.
  • Draft a business case to determine whether the company can justify the investment required to deliver a proposed solution.
Business analysis planning and monitoring:
  • Select the approach to be used to perform business analysis with involvement of the stakeholders in the decisionmaking process and provide the rationale for the selected approach.
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis through identification of stakeholders who may be affected by the proposed initiative or share common business need and determine stakeholder influence and/or authority regarding the approval of the project deliverables.
  • Plan business analysis activities which involve determination of the activities that must be performed including the deliverables that must be produced as well as estimation of the effort required to perform the work. This includes identification of the management tools required to measure the progress of those activities and deliverables.
  • Develop business analysis communication plan which describes the proposed structure and schedule for the communication regarding business analysis activities.
  • Plan requirements management process which is the process that will be used to approve requirements for the implementation and manage changes to the solution or requirements scope.
Requirements elicitation and management:
  • Conduct elicitation activities with relevant stakeholders and ensure that all resources required are organised and scheduled to meet the stakeholders needs/ expectations.
  • Document elicitation results by recording the information provided by the stakeholders for use in the analysis.
  • Validate the stakeholder requirements and ensure understanding of the problem and stakeholder needs.
  • Manage the solution scope and the requirements to obtain and maintain consensus among key stakeholders regarding the overall solution scope and the requirements that will be implemented.
  • Management of the requirements traceability which is the ability to trace a requirement through all stages of a project from its initial conception to its final implementation and testing.
Requirements analysis:
  • Prioritise requirements ensuring that the analysis and implementation efforts focus on the most critical requirements.
  • Organise the requirements with the purpose of creating a set of views of the requirements for the new business solution that are comprehensive complete consistent and understood from all stakeholder perspectives.
  • Specify and model the requirements to analyse expressed stakeholder desires and /or the current state of the organisation using the combination of textual statements matrices diagrams and formal models.
  • Define the assumptions and constraints by identifying factors other than the requirements that may affect which solutions are viable.
  • Verify the requirements to ensure that the specifications and models meet the necessary standard of quality to allow them to be used effectively to fulfil its goal and objectives as well as meet stakeholder needs.
Solution assessment and validation:
  • Assess the proposed solutions to determine how closely they meet stakeholder and solution requirements.
  • Allocate stakeholder and solution requirements among solution components and releases to maximize the possible business value given the options and alternatives generated by the design team.
  • Assess organizational readiness to establish whether the organization is ready to make effective use of the new solution.
  • Outline transition requirements by defining the requirements for capabilities required to transition from an existing solution to a new solution.
  • Validate the solution to ensure that it meets the business requirements and determine the most appropriate response to identified defects.
  • Assess solution performance through evaluating functioning solutions to understand the value they deliver and identify opportunities for improvement.
