ABOUT GROVES SUMMER PROGRAMS During the summer we are pleased to offer students from the community a tailored highquality educational experience. Instruction at Groves is explicit structured and multimodal. Teachers combine their experience and expertise with care and understanding using a diagnosticprescriptive approach to continually assess and address individual student needs.
Our summer programs employ our proven philosophy of developing strengths and talents remediating academic weaknesses and tailoring instruction to meet individual needs. We offer programs for children entering grades 28 who have learning and/or attention disorders such as dyslexia and ADHD.
ABOUT THE GROVES SUMMER PROGRAM TEACHER POSITION The Summer Program Teacher plans and executes learning activities for a balanced program of instruction and demonstration. They provide an environment and culture in the classroom that engages students and helps them learn effectively. The small class size allows for individualized instruction and provides a collaborative atmosphere. Our summer program focuses on reading writing and math. We are currently seeking teachers who have experience in any or all of these subjects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS in Special Education/Education required
- 2 years of classroom teaching experience
- Expertise in learning disorders in reading writing and math and attention disorders in a classroom setting
- Ability to independently assess students capabilities create appropriate lesson plans and scaffold teaching to student needs
- An intuitive teaching style with the ability to differentiate instruction
- Knowledge of executive functioning skills and how deficits in these skills affect academics
- Experience in positive reinforcement and positive behavior supports
- The ideal candidate exhibits empathy patience and compassion in working with students
Math Teacher
- Experience in Singapore Math is preferred
Reading Teacher
- Experience in an OrtonGillinghambased curriculum or Wilson Reading System is required
Writing Teacher
- Experience in The Writing Revolution or Kansas Writing Strategies is preferred
